Is there a title that is missing? I wish someone could do a Firestorm title some justice, I always thought he had some promise. And why we can't have a good Shazam ongoing is beyond me. I finally had an idea for Marvel and Black Adam to get blasted either through time or through space and have to work with each other to get back home. Anyway, anyone else have some good ideas. Feel free to joke around or be serious :)

Ever since Young Justice ended, I've wondered why no one's done more with the Secret. I mean, I know that Greta Hayes is normal again, but it seems like there should be a new Warder by now. I don't think the Secret could carry an ongoing series, but there ought to be a miniseries or something to reintroduce and flesh out the concept.

Huh... I always felt like there should be a "Legends of Batman and Robin" title...
whenver I go through my collection of batman trades there always seems to be this huge gap in the timeline... the years chronicling new earth adventures of Bruce and Dick.... I called them the "missing years" of Batman...

It would in essence be just like the orignal premise of Legends of the Dark Knight... expect dealing with stories after Robin Year one and before Dick Joined the New Teen Titans...

The dynamic would be similar to the rampant Batman/Nightwing team-ups save for the fact Dick would be a little more insecure and naive... while Bruce cold pessmism and robotic mannerisms would at it's worse....

I've always wonder what happened in Dick's first encounter with the Joker... Or how Batman/Robin/Catwoman played out... How Gotham changed after the freaks took over the Gotham Underbelly...

And I've always wanted a second Wonder Woman comic....

Bring back Vic Sage. I don't mean resurrect him. I mean bring his stories back. I want more Vic sage stories from back in the day. How 'bout Vic Sage year one? A prequel to the O'neil Cowan run.

Also, Huntress.

I was just thinking earlier today about what I'd do if I were handed the reins of Justice League of America. I'd love to write that title, and make it a lot more new reader friendly, and a bit more Silver Age-y fun as opposed to a group of heroes calling each other by their first names while in combat and mourning Sue Dibny (though that was sad). Were I writing Justice Society of America, I would essentially have the same goals, sans access to some of the bigger names.

Writing Detective Comics or Batman would be interesting in a post-R.I.P. world... but I'd only do it if Dick Grayson ascended to the mantle of the Bat full-time. It'd be neat to write, watching him get acclimated to his new place in the DCU. I could easily write some heart-to-hearts with former Titans and some of the heavy-hitters (i.e. Superman, Wonder Woman, etc.). That'd be interesting. I'd probably make Damien his pet project, trying to redeem him in Bruce's memory (or whatever the equivalent is, since we have no clue what the hell is going to happen to Bruce), and Tim, again effectively orphaned, might become a little more withdrawn, go to NYU, and become the new Nightwing.

I'd dig a Cassandra Cain ongoing. The rreall Cass, that is, not the Beechen perversion of the characer.

It'd pick up from the last issue of her ongoing and flatout ignore all the post-OYL mess.
She'd no longer be Batgirl, but just herself, walking the world, righting wrongs.

Featuring Richard Dragon in a mentor capacity.

First arc sets up the series.
Second arc she confronts the Bat-family to tell them they're all abusive hypocrits who abandonded her after Blüdhaven fell.
Third arc she goes after Deathstroke for the destruction of Blüdhaven.

A Shazam book with the original Marvel Family on New Earth.(Cap, Jr. and Mary).
A Firestorm book with Ronnie Raymond.
A Batman and Robin book with Bruce and Tim.
A Batgirl book with Barbara Gordon.
A Aquaman title with Orin.
JLA with the Bronze Age satellite charcaters.

I'd create a maxi/ongoing called Earth-51 where it dies over and over and over again and only one man remembers.

I really want to write an Aquaman series based around mythical and magical histories of Atlantis. Unfortunately I haven't read much Aquaman and don't know in what capacity this has been attempted before an if I'd worked or why it failed. (I've asked this before but if anybody was a fan of Aquaman and could describe what works and doesn't with the character it would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just reccomending particular arcs. Thanks)

I think a secondary JLA team with B-list characters could be a fun way of highlighting some forgotten characters who couldn't necessarily carry a series all on their own.

Right now, the biggest title that is missing from the DCU is

Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes Geoff Johns writing, art by George Perez plus fill-ins (Gary Frank, Carlos Pacheco...) to keep on a monthly schedule. The void of not having this as an ongoing is clawing at my heart every single day. :D

Other books that should be around but aren't:

Justice League International, a continuity-heavy book mining the history of the League and working with all the loose ends that are around right now. What the hell is up with the Dibnys? What's up now that Ice is back? Who's gonna follow up that Kord Industries dangler from Geoff's last issue of Booster Gold? What's up with Hawkman's big retcons right now? How is Gypsy coping with J'onn's death? Stuff like this. The League has so many characters, so much dangling stuff that needs to be addressed, but right now it's just being scattered haphazardly all across the DCU. There needs to be a central point where League fans can come for answers about League characters. And the main JLA book doesn't want to be that because it would get "bogged down by dealing with minutiae" or something I suppose, so let's let it go on its merry way doing new directions all it likes, and let's have a second League book dealing with the continuity. The Justice League is a big enough brand that it can carry a second book. Busiek/Bagley would work fine for this once Trinity is over. ;)

Aquaman should have a book, but I think it might be best to do a Rebirth for him first. And I also think DC shouldn't have two concurrent Rebirths going, which means Aquaman Rebirth could be around 2010. So maybe this property should just rest and wait for a while now, let the Flash launch in 2009. Same thing with Hawkman I suppose.

Zatanna is overdue for an ongoing. We all know Dini wants to do it. DC should seize the moment while they still have Dini working for them. Come on now, we all know we want to see that solicitation: Zatanna #1 (Paul Dini/Adam Hughes).

Supergirl/Batgirl. The male version is doing pretty decent sales so why not try the same trick with their distaff counterparts? They've always sold kind of low and struggled a bit with their solo books, how about trying how it could work as a buddy book? I'd probably want it to be Linda Danvers/Cassandra Cain though, because Kara Zor-El and Barbara Gordon don't need any pushing as brands while these two underappreciated characters could use some spotlight. Plus they're not being currently used on an ongoing basis so they're free for a team-up.

....

Cool idea! The classic duo told with modern sensibilities. The series would probably have a set lifespan (like 3-4 years) to it, but I think you could tell some great stories in that time. Definately better than ASBR.

I'd like to see something similar in current continuity. Robin having his own title really seems to have destroyed an actual working partnership with Batman. At least on a day-to-day basis. I always wished the Bat books were set up like this:

Detective Comics: detective stories and mysteries told by rotating creative teams including guest mystery novelists. Would also include other DCU detectives. In or out of continuity.

Batman: the more action-oriented Batman carried by one creative team for good stretches so that they can firmly establish their take on the character and keep the continuity more streamlined. Solo Batman stories only. In continuity only.

Batman and Robin: The dynamic duo shown working together. This could also be Batman, Robin and Nightwing. Or, alternatively, just Nightwing and Robin. I love the older/younger brother sort of theme there. In continuity only.

Legends of the Dark Knight: any great Batman story that any writer out there is yearning to tell. Should be a title of mini-series only though. This will keep the quality higher. When the story is there, tell it. If it's marginal, then don't. All of the "specials" or one-shots that come out now would essentially fall under one banner then. Out of continuity only.

As for titles that I want to see: Deathstroke; returned to the bad@$$ mercenary with a unique code of honor who often takes missions for personal reasons or the challenge of it. Like he was in his own book.

Azrael; returned to the original idea of what an Azrael was supposed to be. An assassin for a secret religious order. DC really dropped the ball here. Especially since they were originally ahead of the curve. All of the books and movies that were done on this, from classics like the Assassini and Fraternity of the Stone to hacks like the Da Vinci Code and all of the imitators that followed; talk about a wasted opportunity. I just love the idea of a religious themed hero dishing out punishment based on righteous morality.

Vic Sage, the Question (I accept no substitutes): an investigative reporter rooting out corruption. So much potential.

I could go for an origin or year one type story for Mogo. And perhaps a third Lantern book featuring a Lantern of one of the non green corps.

Aquaman - w/ the real deal Aquaman, Sub Diego and almost no magic/mystic stuff.

Hawkman and the Atom - w/ Ray Palmer as the Atom.

Captain Marvel - w/ a similar tone and direction that the Super books have. That is to say not so much like the whimsical CC Beck version and definitely not anything like the current Judd Winick Sha-Sham version. Contemporary but optimistic.

Justice League of America - w/ Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, Orin, WW, J'onn J'onz, Hawkman, Ray Palmer the Atom and the Trinity. I'd be very happy with an ongoing that resembled the Justice maxi series.

Batwoman - w/ Babara Gordon

I'd like to see annual mini series featuring.......the Metal Men, Doom Patrol, The Question (Vic Sage), Mystery in Space w/ Adam Strange and Captain Comet, The Spectre (Jim Corrigan), Plastic Man and Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond)

Oh yeah, here's another one. I'd like to see some sort of Hawkman: Rebirth used in order to bring back some form of the old Thanagarian Hawkman. I've been reading the old Showcase Presents Hawkman books and I just love that guy so much more than the old JSA dude we've got going now. Starlin started the job in that Hawkman Special, but it doesn't seem like they're going to follow up on it. I want to see Katar revamped and updated without being turned into the grim guy from after Hawkworld. It could reintroduce Katar and Shayera, as well as Thangar and Midway City. I'd also like to see his history placed back in the early days of the JLA where it was originally.

I'd like to see Shadowpact brought back in some sense. I know it had it's chance, but it deserves another. Or if they could get a Ragman solo series going, I'd be fine with that too.

I'd go for...

===

Captain Cold
by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins

===

Mr. Terrific
by James Robinson, Geoff Johns and Rags Morales

===

Suicide Squad
by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch or by Marc Andreyko and Jesus Saiz

Characters: Rick Flag, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang Jr., Bronze Tiger, Vixen, Nightshade, Count Vertigo, Mutiplex, Bane, Plastique, Pied Piper, Manhunter, Nemesis, Amanda Waller and King Faraday.

===

The Great Ten
by Greg Rucka and Francis Manapul

I'd like to see another mini by the same team (or at least it has to have the same artist) that did Teen Titans Year one. I loved that artist.

I would have liked to see a Batgirl and Spoiler ongoing... but these days DC would probably put Beechan on it and I'd rather a travesty like that not exist at all.

In a possible future both Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are happily retired Tim Drake is now Batman. Cassandra Cain is Batwoman Tim and Cassie are married or engaged. Bruce has married Selina. Dick has married Babs. Bruce has the Wayne Foundation offering advanced training to police forces, fire fighters and other first responders. ( maybe he does already... but.) Bruce and Dick kid each other about the beer guts they're developing and how they actually enjoy things like bacon and television now. Oh and Bruce would also finance an army of rabid victim's rights lobbyist. ( maybe he does already... but.)

I think the time is ripe for a revival of The Odd Man!

Of course, it would be canceled quickly due to no one buying it but me. :frown:

Barring that, I'd enjoy seeing ADVENTURE COMICS brought back as a year long weekly focusing on lesser known characters of the DCU. That's what appealed to me about 52.

I want to write Batwoman and The Huntress.

And I'd like to read an ongoing Question book starring Renee Montoya. And I think Rucka should write it. I like how he handles her, and I'm enjoying the Revelations tie-in book.

A Zatanna ongoing would be appreciated too. I guess Dini is doing that, so that's good.

I'd also enjoy a Shiloh Norman-starring Mister Miracle.

This would be a great idea. There's a lot of characters in the DCU which are fascinating but probably couldn't do a whole series on their own. But who could do a few one shots.

LOVE THIS! I'm a sucker for anything that has to do with teen/young characters! I know you didn't elaborate much on this, but if ya do, can you please, PLEASE, include Black Alice! She's my second favorite teen girl character, Supergirl is #1, but BA needs a place to really shine!

I think mine is a little obvious

I'd like to write a new IMPULSE ongoing. I've actually given this alot of thought on how/why to bring Bart back to his roots in Manchester. The fact that even the DC Encyclopedia still says that Max is MIA and not dead. Bring back Carol. Etc. I'd want to do what Mark Waid originally wanted to do with the series. A sitcom in a comic. Not a superhero book. I'd really love to write this.

And I've thought about doing a new JLI-type team book with some of the surviving characters of Young Justice and others. The team I've thought of is
-Impulse
-Ravager
-Wonder-Girl
-Blue Beetle
-Little Barda (if she's not dead)
-Most Excellent Superbat (or any of the Japanese heroes)
-Argent
-(don't know what they're gonna do with Robin soon so I'm iffy about using him)
-I've got others written down somewhere...
I know I'd like the first villain to be Manga Kahn.

I would like to see a monthly title that stars villains. Not a team of villains like the old Secret Society of Super-Villains, but more of a Classified-type title, showcasing one-shots and short arcs featuring various villains. And also featuring various writers and artists, possibly as a way to test out some new talent and bring back some old talent too.

Interesting idea. I think it would be able to survive b/c I would imagine many writers out there have their favorite villains and stories they'd like to tell. It would probably be very hit or miss month by month but at least it would be something new.

I'd do an Earth-5 imprint; a whole line, starting of course with a SHAZAM title. There'd be a different logo for the imprint, much like Wildstorm.

I think the Marvel family has tons of unused potential and that their place in history is in danger of being diminished because of continued unuse or misuse. I also do think that the only way they really work is if Captain Marvel is the number one superhero in his universe, which will never happen as long as he's with Superman.

Ibis, Spy Smasher, hell even Mr. Scarlet and Pinky are all fair game. Just the Shazam title will do, we can follow up with spin-offs later.

Mr. Terrific needs to get a miniseries at least. He had a short arc in JSA Classified that was beyond horrible. Please let Rucka, or better yet Johns, write a Michael Holt mini!

And I'd like to see some of the Vertigo characters of yesteryear make their way back into the DCU proper. The current Doom Patrol (as seen in Johns Teen Titans) acknowledge some of the weird adventures from their vertigo days. I understand Kid Eternity will be appearing in some other DCU books. Animal Man was all over 52 and now in JL. There's no reason any character with a long-cancelled vertigo series shouldn't come back to the DCU.

The original Ditko version of Shade the Changing Man, Rac Shade, would be a good character to bring back into the DCU proper.

And I always thought the K. Vaughn Swamp Thing (Alec Holland's daughter, Tefe' Holland) would make another great addition. She's so powerful she'd make a useful addition to a Justice League team, while simultaneously creating lots of conflict. She's a bit of a rebel.
