Does anyone else remember that the Green Lantern Corps. killed Sinestro years ago and it killed the battery, the corps, etc.. Shouldn't someone be like, maybe we shouldn't try this again??

...........I kinda knew what the BLANK meant, but......

YIKES.
I'm afraid what some non-GL fans (poor souls) would think when they saw this thread title....

Ah yes, the first time they executed Sinestro. It was my second favorite destruction of the Green Lantern corps.

Presumably the GLC now had permission to kill him while last time the guardians were away.

But it just begs the question why not have a civiliian put a bullet in his head instead of using rings.

I'm also wondering if this GL bloodlust will eventually bleed into other characters. Nobody in the Marvel Universe seems to bat an eye regarding killing anyone anymore.

In the case of Sinestro's execution, dramatic effect kills sound reasoning.

Personally, I think Sinestro is a great villain, but the flaw of serialized storytelling is that the show must go on, so occasionally the forces at work must devise ways to get out of bad corners while sacrificing straight-forward thinking.

All said, Rage of the Red Lanterns looks fun.

Yeah, that was in the last few issues of the Green Lantern Corps series back in the late 80s. `Twas right before INVASION! in fact.

That was when Sinestro got trapped in the Power Battery and got in contact with the Yellow Impurity. The story back then actually reflected it. Later, it was revealed that the impurity was Parallax.

Hal Jordan went in after him and if you follow the retcon, this actually makes it his first encounter with Parallax before in infected him.

Keep in mind that after this series, Hal showed up in his new solo book with the gray temples (which reflected, according to Rebirth) the Parallax influence.

When they killed him before was that prior to the New Earth/52 universe ? It's a new history now, kids
