I want to start reading Jonah Hex. Are the books all single issue stories? If yes great. If no do you know when a good time to pick it up would be.
THANKS

So far, most issues have been single issue stories, with the exception of a small few. To be honest, I'd just suggest picking up one of the trades, which at $12.99US for six issues are an excepional value. All of them are very good, but Jonah Hex: Origins might be a good place to start. (Granted, I have become a huge Jordi Bernet fan, so I might be biased to this volume.)

Jonah Hex : Origins trade is the best place to start.

You see his origin and it has the best artist in the series. Bernet who are the only one close to being regular artist.

I heard that Hex will be canceled is there any truth to this?

We recently discussed Hex's cancellation in another thread.

The general consensus believes that the book is safe. It's currently selling within the 12K range; but with trades and a potential film on the horizon, things seem okay...

Here's the other thread - Jonah Hex: In Danger? (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=243576)

I wonder if Jonah is at all popular in countries like Spain and France.

The stories would seem like a natural match to those nations comic styles.

I just read at the Jonah Hex Corral that overseas sales are very good; especially for the trades.

Trades sell VERY well in Europe. I think those sales help keep this title alive...

Since i live in europe i do my part !

Even if im not sure they care about the sales here i do part in collecting the monthly and the trades. Few comics are that good that i must have both.

Trade live longer and i look at it proudly in my bookshelf :)

It must sell well in France and Spain too. I mean fans that like Blueberry type comics and great art wont help themselves against Bernet,Cook,DeZuniga and co.

What did you think of yesterday's issue? I thought it was good, more lighthearted, but definitely the weakest out of a long stretch of recent awesomeness.

the previous issue, the tale of (ahem) Jonah's coat...or, at least, why he continues to wear the rebel uniform, is going to be very hard to top, I think. the recent issue was another in a long line of very readable stories, but just not up to its immediate predesessor. "predesessor"? The one right before it, b'gum!

Matt

Jusdt realized that was TWO issues ago....whew.... time flies and all that. "Predecessor"?

Weakest? It was about time we saw a different tone to Jonah, instead of the ol' one-note tough guy.

Bedding with the gal, giving up the money to the old miner father, it was great characterization.

I agree entirely. I think this issue was just as fantastic as the previous, though my favorite (and I'm pretty new to the series myself) is gonna have to be issue 35, simply because J.H. Williams III was born to illustrate Jonah Hex.

Like I said, it's a good change of pace, but the narratives of the previous two or three issues are very hard to beat.

It comes here 5,6 days later than US realese so its not here yet.

I wasnt impressed by the story about his coat though. The writing was good and good characterization but the art ruined the issue for me. It showed how important art is for Hex. Much more important the many other comics.

Really? Wow, I was going to say the exact opposite. While the art wasn't great, it wasn't horrible either and I didn't feel it had any great impact on the story one way or another. For me the narration on that issue sold me over anything else.
