I want to start reading a new title in the new year. According to my tastes described below, what would you recommend?

Here is a list of my favorite DC reads.

The Question: Original O'neil/Cowan run.
Batman: No Man's Land, especially the Bob Gale and Greg Rucka stuff
Huntress Cry For Blood - Rucka
Huntress Year One - Madison
Manhunter (especially the court drama stuff)- Andreyko

I'll also list other movies I liked that might help you suggest. I loved Memento, Gerry, Blade Runner, Dirty Harry, 3:10 to Yuma.

I like to start a story at a very clear beginning ie. most jumping on points to me aren't really jumping on points. Also. I'm reluctant to read books that tie in heavily with others. Oh, and I'm really not into magic and mysticism AT ALL. I should probably mention that I'm not into over-violenced and over-sexed books.

Thanks!

The first mini from a few years back didn't do it for me but thanks for the suggestion.

If you dug on the hard-boiled Western vibes of "3:10 to Yuma," you really oughtta give Jonah Hex a look. It's completely new reader friendly, as nearly every story is finished in one issue. Great stuff. I never much cared for Westerns, but Jonah Hex does it for me everytime.

Gotham Central and Robin seem like they'd both be books you would enjoy.

Good luck!

Will do.

I've read them recently... and think they are sensationally good. I'd be hard put to decide which was the more enjoyable. Its all subjective... but those two have been two of the comics I've enjoyed most in the last 10 years, and they do have a reasonably similar feel to the stuff you read and enjoy already.

Wise choice. Hex is the best book being put out right now.

There's a new Vigilante series coming out soon. I don't have any idea if it's going to be good, but that strikes me as the sort of comic you'd be interested in reading if it was well written.

I think Marv Wolfman and Walt Simonson are working on it, so I'm definitely down to check it out. That'd be a great one to start, JumpingJupiter.
