View Full Version : Renaming the JLA series?
I can't believe this news, they're going to change the title of Justice League of America from now on. Here's a preview of the first issue:

Right ? 3/4 of that issue was just gratuitous Vixen a$$ shots ! And now she's Anansi's champion ? But maybe not. But maybe she is

McDuffie is crushing on Vixen worse than Hudlin on Storm.

Hey, at least we're getting some character development outside of "the JLA are on a first name basis with each other."

And to think that Frank Cho wasn't involved (anyone who's read the first few issues of Mighty Avengers knows what I'm talking about).
Anyway, this is the most attention Vixen's gotten in ages, so I don't see a big problem here. I doubt it'll continue at this level.

For the record, if not for the introduction of RageCat in Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns, the Brown Bomber would be the Sensational New Character Find of 2008.

Vixen needs to zip up the front of her shirt. It's been bugging me for so long. I just can't take it anymore.

According to rumor, he was nearly created ages ago.
From what I hear, the Brown Bomber was originally DC's idea for the first Black DC superhero. The idea being that it was the spirit of a Black man sharing the body of a racist White guy. So, whenever a superhero was needed, the White bigot would say a magic word and turn into a superpowered Black guy. This idea was in the works until Tony Isabella went up to DC and said "Guys, you do realize that you're making your first Black superhero a racist White guy". Isabella pretty much figured that for the first of his kind, people would prefer someone who was not only not a racist, but Black all the time. From there, Black Lightning was created.
At least, so I heard.

Actually that's going to be the new title.

That's the single worst spelling of Black Panther I've ever seen. There's not nearly enough letters for one thing and definelty no S, O, or M in the word.

I kind of felt this way when reading this issue myself. This is the JLA! I don't understand why DC doesn't tie this into the FC series like the Avengers titles do with SI. I know that may not sound like the most positive idea, but since the new volume it's been Red Tornado, Lightning Saga, Red Tornado, and the Adventures of Vixen.

Please, no.
I don't read that crossover stuff (well, maybe a thing or two, here and there). I stopped reading Mighty Avengers when it became all Skrull stuff. I don't want to stop reading JLA for an extended period of time too.
And I like Vixen and Red Tornado.

It saddens me that were are twenty-five issues into the JLA and they have yet to battle off an alien invasion, cosmic threat, near apacalyse, or alternate reality despot...All they been doing dealing with are personal issues since OYL...
Honestly, how lazy can they be?
Superman almost singe-handedly halted four alien inasions in that time, restore peace to desolate future, and rid the world of kryptonite with Batman...the Teen Titans handled a starro invasion and alternate reality Justice League..Green Lantern blew-up a planet of muderous robots...Nightwing foiled a conspiracy to create a legion of super assasins....Supergirl thwarted an invasion Kryptoian ghosts... Batman saved the Giblator from an invasion Man-Bat Ninja Commados and with Green Lantern's help saved the universe....The Flash thwarted an alien invasion... The Suicide Squad rounded up every single super villian in America....Wonder Woman saved the every realm in existence and ended the Genocide of an alien race...Jimmy Olsen beat up Darkseid...
And Justice League of America have been sitting on their lazy a$$es the whole damn time... WTF??

So crazy it's true (http://againwiththecomics.blogspot.com/2008/10/whats-happenin-baby-meet-brown-bomber.html). Heh. I still like the guy, because now he's good ol' post-modern ironic meta-fun. Or something smarter people than I could define better...

Heh. You missed the best part, which is that in this time period the JLI has managed to fend off the Reach, defeat an alternative universe version of Maxwell Lord and Brother Eye, and defeat a bunch of time traveling villains, all without actually being an official group.

Edited: Okay, what i was trying to say before I tripped all over the words and made it sound like a completley different question, was has the Brown Bomber actually ever appeared in any comics in the DCs normal reality or is this the first for him?

Yeah... I mean, people argue that McDuffie's run opened strong, and it was entertaining, but if you think about it... It opened with the Justice League Wedding Special. They were at a party and it got crashed, fer chrissakes. As of now, it seems more like the Justice League is a loose club of friends who like to hang out than the most powerful conglomeration of superhumans in the DCU.
That being said, I'm picking up issue 27, because I liked McDuffie's first arc (even though all it really did was add Firestorm to the Justice League's roster), and I'm excited to see the Milestone characters added to DC's continuity. That, and I never cared much for Vixen, which is why I shyed away from the series of late. She bores me to tears.
