Dan Dido dropped a very curious and cryptic couple of comments over at his new weekly Q&A with Newsarama. And since the Titans books are the only DC I read, I figured why not start a discussion thread about it. I snipped his answers down to the signifigant aspects. Follow the link for the full Q&A.
14) Let’s start looking at some of the franchises in a broad view. Since you mentioned it, let’s start with the Teen Titans books. Sometimes I get the feeling that you enjoy pushing the love/hate relationship that readers have with the Teen Titans as far as you can, but right now, you’ve got a fairly loud chorus of “What th-?” with the treatment of Wendy and Marvin – to put it politely. What is the larger plan here between the Teen Titans and Titans?
DD: So that’s where we’re going there. Let me go back for a minute to Wendy, since you mentioned her earlier. Wendy actually plays a key role in the DC Universe, believe it or not, following her story in Teen Titans. Her injury, her coma sets off a chain of events throughout the DCU that brings about one of the most startling changes in the DC Universe by the middle of next year. Once you find out who her father is, we start connecting the dots from there.
15) So she’s connected with Blackest Night?
DD: Absolutely not. Our connect the dots will take us from Wendy to Gotham City, which will send everyone reading this off on a completely wrong path, by the way.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that they're taking a page from Batman & Robin.
That Wendy is Alfred's Niece and will be the new Batgirl or Robin in 2009.

Well, supposedly, Wendy and Marvin were the children of some inventive genius. At least, that's what I heard. Bets were on either Doc Magnus or T.O. Morrow.

Neither of whom hang out in Gotham on a regular basis. But who in Gotham could fit the bill?
Obviously, Marvin and Wendy are either Booster or Michelle's children.
Hey, both of them grew up in the mean streets of Gotham (albeit in the 25th century.)

Could be anyone from Gordon to Bullock or Penguin to Hugo Strange.

Teen Titans
In 2006, in Teen Titans #34, a new version of the Wendy and Marvin characters appeared. The pair work as "caretakers" of Titans Tower one year after the events of the Infinite Crisis crossover. The pair (now fraternal twins) seem to be technical geniuses; Wendy mentions in their initial appearance that she and Marvin graduated from MIT on their sixteenth birthday, and in Teen Titans #40, Ravager refers to them as "tenth-level geniuses" (compare to DC characters Brainiac and Brainiac 5, both purported to be twelfth-level intellects). It was established that Marvin is the older twin, by approximately five minutes. This Marvin continues the tradition of his previous incarnations by wearing a shirt with a stylized "M" on the front, but without the attached cape of his animated counterpart. The twins' last name has yet to be mentioned.
Cyborg has been damaged and inactive since his return from space, but Wendy and Marvin have repaired him and given him new capabilities.
In Teen Titans #62 Wendy and Marvin meet a stray dog that Miss Martian names Wonderdog. In reality, Wonderdog is some sort of demonic monster in the service of a new villian called King Lycus, who appeared at the end of the issue after the beast killed Marvin and severely mauled Wendy. As seen in Teen Titans #63, she survived the attack, but is apparently in a coma.

Thanks for missing the entire point of the thread and the actual question. Bravo.

Because they're twins, I was thinking maybe they were Two Face's kids.
My next guesses would be the Toyman (who is currently in Gotham) or Jim Corrigan.
Obviously, it would help if we knew what was happening in the middle of next year. She was attacked by Ares' son. Since Ares and old Greek gods were "The Third World," could she somehow be the catalyst for the Fifth World? Given all the delays, that's about when Final Crisis will probably end.
from what I've read on Wikipedia (I know, I know....), it seems that both Wendy and Marvin are actually speculated to be a VERY big part of the DCU. I never knew.

What makes everyone think that Wendy and Marvin are from Gotham? I must be missing something.

Read Dan Didio's comments in the first post. No one's saying they're from Gotham, but according to Dan Didio, they have a Gotham connection of some kind.

Maybe Spoiler slept with Two-Face while she was in Europe and her children were magically aged?

Actually Didio says "Our connect the dots will take us from Wendy to Gotham City, which will send everyone reading this off on a completely wrong path"
Sounds to me like she 's not connected to anyone in Gotham City ....

How do you figure? It means she has connections to someone in Gotham. It's pretty clear....

Emphasis mine, of course. She's not necessarily connected to anyone in Gotham, just the resolution of her storyline will take place in or around Gotham, or some vital clue will be found in Gotham. Y'know, in one of the lesser Bat oriented titles so as to pump up sales. Or maybe just a two-page chat on a ledge with Huntress. It's not like Bruce is gonna turn out to be her mystery dad.
Honestly, knowing how these things usually work out, Didio's blowing smoke about a story that's barely a gleam in the writer's eye and will have to backpedal furiously to make the comment match the story as it is ultimately developed.

That's what I was thinking. Just cause her story takes her to Gotham doessn't mean she has any ties there. Didio is famous for throwing comments like that out there. Besides her teammate Robin does live in Gotham maybe he'll have something to do with her story.

I'm think the 'Wrong Direction' that Didio is commenting on is that in the Super Friends continuity that Wendy was the neice of Harvey Harris, a detective that trained Bruce Wayne at an early age in his quest to become Batman. But that they're not going through with that, and that her father is someone else with connections to Gotham. Which still leaves a great deal of possibilities.
I still say they're gonna pull a bit of continuity from Batman & Robin and have Wendy be Alfred's neice or something. And then she'll either become the new Robin or the new Batgirl.

I think it would be cooler if she became a second Oracle (Babs during the day, Wendy on the nightshift, perhaps?).

In the original Super Friends cartoon, as I recall, Wendy was Batman's niece.
I'm pretty sure this is what he means by the bolded section.

No she wasn't. In the cartoon there was never any background or origin stories for Wendy or Marvin. They were just kind of always there hanging around ....

One of the ideas kicked around was that she was his Niece though. It may have even been mentioned in a comic at one point. The Superfriends comics had her as the neice of Harvey Harris.
