Mother of god -- that was a real cover (minus the sound effect, of course)? I initially assumed it was a joke, honestly, having done my best to ignore anything Batman-related since about 1968, but ... *ugh*.
Was this just a case of early '90s Image-istic horribleness, or is this Kelley Jones character seriously lacking in talent, or ...?

Kinda got lucky on this one. Mike's site is broken down into ages. So I looked at the list of titles in the Atom Age group and then searched titles that had some kind of movie or tv connection which is sometimes the case with titles that are published by more than one company. Never did recognize the artists.

I pursued a similar tack. After exhausting Quality titles, I moved onto licensed or extra-territorial DC franchise books, like Hopalong. But unlike ROK I jumped over the the correct cover in my bleary eyed scanning. Good work ROK!

I asked Ayers about the Marvel Ghost Rider many years ago at a con, and he affirmed that no one had kept any ME trademarks current, so GR was legally up for grabs. I thought he implied that it was Roy Thomas' idea, but I couldn't swear to that.
