I love those expressions that would be so obscure to anyone else but are so clear to comics fans:

That might make a good thread.

What is a Kane skirt?

It's the type of loincloth that Gil Kane used to put on his sword and sorcery characters (and on many ladies); it looks like two long rectangular pieces of fabric, one in front and one in the back, attached at the waist.

I first came across the expression in an early letter page of the (then-new) King Conan comic. In it, a reader praised the art by Buscema and Chan but was surprised that King Conan would still wear a loincloth that looked like an unrefined fur diaper. He added "if I were king, you'd never catch me in anything less than a Gil Kane skirt" !

(Here's a pic of John Carter elegantly attired by Mr. Kane)!

I had no idea what this was. The moment I looked at that John Carter cover, it was obvious.

Here's another one, cretaed by a friend of mine: Sal Buscema grimace. So much a part of conversational currency, I forget which comics collector friend actually first came up with the expression...

LOL!

Of course, what we really need instead is a trade paperback of the first six
(of 142) issues of "Blackest, Darkest, Grittiest Night of Death-Rape" with all ten Batmen and the new "Super-team Supreme," Fang and Claw (actually a deconstructed, retro-booted, re-conned, ultra-violent take on Mr. Scarlet and Pinky) in a revenge-crusade against the newly sociopathic Tawky Tawny ("a talking tiger like you've never seen before!!) for the torture and immolation of Streaky the Super-Cat at a Midvale Orphanage benefit performance.

I looked at: Captain Kangaroo, I Love Lucy, Real McCoys, Family Affair, Bozo, Leave it to Beaver, Fury and Man From UNCLE.

That's right, Man From UNCLE.

I looked at the Issues of FOUR COLOR that featured Annette.

This doesn't look like an actual "sports" related comic to me for some reason... I keep thinking it might be one of those goofy GA Flash or Batman/Superman covers. They did a lot of those types of covers... but I'm not interested in looking at thousands of covers on GCD right now. Maybe I'll wait for LR to get back and give us another hint.
