Until the legs became obvious, I was pretty sure this was Simonson, but it turns out his DC cover art in the 70's wasn't all that substantial. Once I'd exhausted Metal Men and Hercules Unbound and Sherlock Holmes*, I realized I was probably on the wrong track.
*Not that I thought for an instant that it was Holmes, but Herc and the MM seemed likely prospects from the beginning.

RE: Strange Tales 139.
That's a rather odd cover. It took me awhile to figure out the "Everybody Reads SHIELD" arrow was directed at Dr. Strange and not at the weird machine about to capture Fury.
Basically the cover is just a Marvel joke/promo for the SHIELD half of the book. I assume the page Strange is holding is the actual splash for that issue's Fury installment.

It is indeed the splash page, and oddly enough one of the few times Doctor Strange got more that a tiny panel picture on the cover of Strange Tales. Course I liked this pose of him mucho better on the pi universe version of Strange Tales #146... (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=7049479&postcount=17)
Appreciate the nudge there Kimosabe, I think the reason I didn't PM this one is because I did have to scratch my noggin for a couple of seconds( and thanks to Prince Hal for being on scope for this), but it also lets me get more mileage outta that infinity cover.

I had totally forgotten this magazine. Good one on LR for picking it and good one on Benday for solving it.
I don't think anyone mentioned this on the John Buscema thread.
I do remember buying the color Doc book. I think DC almost got the rights to it.

It's also interesting to note how very different the look of Doc Savage's face and hair would become compared with this initial issue and those that followed, wherein he both appears older and begins to sport that peculiar buzzed widow's peak hair style.
How come there hasn't been a Doc Savage movie? I think some effort was made in the 70's, but it came off as forgettable (though I haven't seen it)
The 70s Doc Savage was done as a camp tongue-in-cheek version, although it looked good, and was a fairly on-target adaptation of the first doc novel. I was surprised when I read the book after seeing the movie that the line "Mona, you're a brick," which was set up to get a big laugh in the movie (and did), was actually straight from the book.
Warner Bros just made it available as part of their burn-on-demand program.

I think I might have been seeing the Heck in that Daredevil cover.
The GCD entry (http://www.comics.org/details.lasso?id=26874) says of this cover:
Romita cover penciler credit provided 2006 by Nick Caputo. George Olshevsky's Marvel Comics Index credits the cover to Heck and Esposito. Heck definitely either penciled or inked the cover.
I would say pencilled and inked with a rework by Romita. After reading the GCD I'd say, yeah, I might well lean to Heck pencils, redraw by Romita, inked by Esposito, with even a possible subsequent re-inking by Romita.
Anyone else an opinion?

True, true. There is just some specific mentioning in the just released Overstreet of this series becoming "red hot for the first time in years" since the Heath Ledger portrayal. I guess the "years" in reference could be 1989.
