For many years, I've heard diehard fans go on about how Storm is such a versitle and all-powerful mutant in full control of her abilities in a variety of ways. But you have to wonder if there is a bit of arrogance along with that... But I digress.
Over the years, we've had many mutants with elemental abilities that have intereacted with the X-Men at any given point in time. Whether it's a current team mate, a student, or otherwise. But in all the years she's been around, I've never seen any reference to her tuitoring any of those similarly powered characters on perfecting and honing their abilities. That is not to say that these instances could have happened off panel, but to my own personal knowledge, I have never seen anything of the sort.
Wind Dancer, Iceman, Rainboy, Surge, Polaris, and a host of others come to mind as mutants with similarly related powers. Can any of you find any useful reference that shows her teaching others to utilize their powers in effective ways?

storm flew a suicidal failure of a writer around a city once and convinced him not to kill himself?
essentially, she told him that his superpower was being smarter than she is.
does that count?

Storm has been shown teaching Wind Dancer how to change barometric pressure with her wind powers (which Storm has used to blast through moutains, create force-fields, crunch nukes and instantly explode houses before), and I think there was an issue with her being asked by Bobby to help with his powers, but I don't know if the writer ever followed up on that.
I think that's ultimately where the problem is: the writers not showing that. Storm could have been a great teacher to a lot of those new mutants coming through the school in recent years, but the writers just didn't use her in that manner.

Storm also tutored Bobby on his abilities for a while.

This is a celebration week. Don't bring that bullshit here.
Anyway, as mentioned, Storm has privately tutored Iceman and Wind Dancer.

It's good to see that my constant talk of Rain Boy is starting to pay off. For some reason he was assigned with Gambit, when it clearly would've made more sense for him to be on Storm's team. Maybe when Rain Boy comes back we'll be able to explore this odd assignment choice further? Even if he's depowered, Storm would be able to help him out, having been through all that herself as she has, and come out the other side still shiny.

Unconfirmed! Rain Boy is still out there somewhere.

Ro and Lorna worked together to fling Krakoa into orbit. Meanwhile, Jean couldn't be bothered to help or anything.

I can actually think of two or three times when Storm either taught or was asked to help someone with their powers
1) The air pressure lesson she had with Winddancer during the Christmas Holidays
2) The issue where Bobby asked Storm to help him understand his abilities (I wish writer would have actually shown this)
3) The electrical kid named "Volt" in the New Warriors, who had the Legacy Virus
IIRC, she also had a hand in training some of the New Mutants.

Storm should have schooled many of those X-Kids.
X-Treme X-Men should have followed Storm teaching those new pupils instead of Moonstar.
