The Calendar section today previews the next season of this show by Dr. Drew Pinsky. One of the featured "celebrities" is Rodney King. I am a little ambivalent about him being portrayed as a celebrity here. Without stirring the pot too much, I am pointing out that, while he has a considerable amount of fame associated with his name, is he really a personality worthy of being grouped with a list of people who have achieved their fame through working at their craft? I am not sure I will watch one way or the other, but I question the culture of reality TV and the need to "create" celebrity where I think there really is none.

Well, most of the people on celebrity rehab have been pretty low tier celebrities and relatively unknown.
But after seeing the first episode, Gary Busey needs to be put into a mental institution for his insanity, not just in drug rehab.

Partly ....I mean sure he is a weird crazy guy. But come on...if we locked up every weird crazy guy then this planet would lose a lot of the population. And he's not hurting anyone . He's honestly just a weird guy who says and acts crazy.
The world needs someone we can all sit and think... "Only Gary Busey..."

Oh, he's definitey the king of crazytown.
I just think it's hilarious that he's acting like he's on the show as a therapist, instead of as a patient. Dr. Drew has pretty much had to smack him down a few times and put him back in his crazy place.

Celebrity has nothing to do with being talented. It has to do with being notorious.

It's taken you until Rodney King on Celebrity Rehab to question reality tv and it's celebrities?

Ah yes, because Rod Stewart's son, a D-list model turned Z-list actress, a third placed Idol reject/stripper, and a music video actress best known for dryhumping Whitesnake's car all earned their right to addictions.

Fine. If King isn't worth questioning, who is? Go ahead and pick me a cherry, slick.

They're all worth questioning, but who has the time? Hey, I've got a better idea: don't watch.

It would be freakin awesome. Why someone doesn't cast him on a sitcom and have him show up and be crazy Gary Busey is beyond me. He could write his own material...

But isn't watching human suffering and misery something we as Americans all get off on ?
