Apart from fear and revenge, what other themes can i find in either 'Batman Year One' and 'The Man Who falls'
and what effects did this have through out the comics?
Anyone know?

the man who falls?
wha?
You should read Year One.
It'll be easy to write about that stuff once you read it.
It's like 100 pages, you'll knock it out.

I second Tanjint. Get Year One and read it. I knew about it before I read it, but I was extremely surprised how deep it was with some of my preconceived notions of "comics". I've had Year One less than 3 months and I've read it over three times. I love it.

Oh yeah, Batman mythology and comics are steeped in parental and daddy issues/obsessions. Especially if you're looking for it.
Hush explores this somewhat, but I was recently particularly impressed by the way Brian Azzarello delved into such issues in the Broken City trade.
also, in all-star Batman, there's a nice amount of it too....and year one, and a little in DKR...what I notice most, reading Broken city and DKR is that by DKR Bruce looks just like his dad but bulkier and that's kind of eerie....

Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale's Haunted Knight covers some cool ground with the parental obsession idea.
as does Mark Waid's JLA:Tower of Babel trade.
And yeah, Year One has hella re-read value...I probably just finished it for the 3rd or 4th time....

Read The Killing Joke or Arkham Asylum and it brings up the nature of sanity. I love the Killing Joke... is Batman nuts or isn't he? It really brings him and the Joker closer together...
