When I am talking about rare combination of action and comedy than one actor come to my mind and he is Jackie Chan. Simply suberb with great sense of humour and equal funny and risky action too.

In Rush Hour Chrish Tucker add some great chemistry with Jackie Chan. So my favourite is Rush Hour 1 and 2.

Which one is yours guys ?

The first one that comes to mind is Hot Fuzz. It's so perfect.

I have to second BB With Hot Fuzz!

Not only is it hysterical, it's a "who's who" of British actors.

Yeah Hot Fuzz was great

If you liked Rush Hour you should check out some of Jackie's back catalogue he's been making quality action comedy flicks for years, try Armor of God

The most recent action/comedy I saw was Tropic Thunder but it sucked

Ditto Hot Fuzz. Before I saw that Jackie Chan had first place. For me Hot Fuzz and Chan represent the most enjoyab west/east exemplars of the action comedy. The world needs both approaches to the action comedy genre to have its own peculiar beauty.

I always thought of Hot Fuzz as a straight up comedy, that happens to spoof action movies. To me, an action comedy means it could, with minor script tweaks, credibly stand in either genre. No way does Hot Fuzz do that. It's a great movie though.

I really like True Lies and Rush Hour. Sadly, I can barely remember Beverly Hills Cop, except for how awful the third one was.

I indeed like Jackie Chan action comedies, though my favorite is actually Shanghai Noon. As a big history buff, really digging the setting, as it blends Qing Dynasty China with the American West. I like Owen Wilson's laid back attitude, plus the fight scenes are the best, especially towards the end of the film, where you see some traditional Chinese weapons used. Honestly, up until then, I don't think I had ever seen a three-section-staff, spear, and board sword used so well.

Hot Fuzz...I'm going against to grain and say that I didn't like it that much, mainly b/c I had a headache towards the end of the film. Still, I admire it b/c it blends a really creepy premise (insulated, murdering townsfolk) w/ kick ass action.

Great minds think alike it seems, since I too would select Hot Fuzz.

And... I also have a soft spot for Big Trouble in Little China.

I'll echo Hot Fuzz. I literally didn't stop laughing through the entire movie. I guy I worked with was sat a few rows back and text me to tell me to shut the hell up as I was too loud. Ha!

Also, I love Bulletproof with Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans. He and Bruce Willis in Last Boy Scout was awesome too and although Hudson Hawk seems to be universally hated, I thought it was great.

I like Hot Fuzz, but it's a parody. A damn good one, but it is a spoof of action conventions.

Beverly Hills Cop set the standard for action comedy.

The Last Boyscout
Running Scared (1986)
Crank

Running Scared is an under-appreciated near-classic (esp. given that it predates Lethal Weapon (by a few months) in the salt-n-pepper, buddy cop, action comedy sweepstakes.) I'm not a big Billy Crystal fan, but he and Gregory Hines were excellent in this.

The original' Police Story'. Back when Jackie Chan wasn't being cast as an annoying racist stereotype.

Kung Fu Hustle

Really preferred Shaolin Soccer. Kung Fu Hustle seemed a little 'all over the shop' for mine.

Shout out though to Korean Comedy Actioners 'Volcano High' and 'Arahan' though. Arahan could've been better, but Volcano High is spectacularly good.

action comedy? definitely Midnight Run as a top contender. The Naked Gun series and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, as the top other choices.

Fuzz was great it was funny one moment then something gory happend! what could be better?.

Simon Pegg is funny as hell i have been a fan since Spaced (a cult british show about two flatmates i URGE you all to check it out:biggrin: ) and other terrestial British shows like Big Train, and the fast show.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zn6Z9djh8eA

But i have to admit im afraid Pegg could go all hollywood and lose the basics that made me like him in the first place that film with the babe from Transformers is crap i have heard.

Bad Eggs (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312409/) - BAD EGGS! Great cop comedy from Melbourne, with Mick Molloy and Bill Hunter. Well worth checking out.
