I watched this, and there was the possiblity that another major eruption, like the one in AD 535 (which allegidly blacked out the planet for 10 years and dropped the temp 10 degrees C, wiping out all plant life and most animal life), could occur again, and if it were in our time I wondered what contingencies we could make.

1. We could do the Ark option, and pile a bunch of humans and animals in an Ark and keep them there till they can reclaim the earth.

2. You could harvest all the protien in a short time and make massive supplies of protein like dog food pallets and keep them stored as long term food in lots of large store houses, so a major section of the population could still have food and survive.

I always thought our society was inefficient right from 1980, where I noticed that we had these vast overlaying food streams like Safeway linked to cattle stations and market farmers, all with positive feeds into society, as a harvesting-consumption cycle, which was largely pointless. A few people were realising their goals, but mostly we were all working for the man, like in that song, "16 tonnes, of no.1 coal". We were all working to pay off debt, and somewhere along the way, we squeezed out some happiness and friendships, that was supposed to satisfy all our endeavors. (I'm talking here from the perspective of someone who never married, so, you know, I have some issues. But as I understand it, only 30% of the population actually partakes in coupling, so there is a large proportion who don't couple up).
