It was a light week for me, so I decided to try this book out...glad I did...
It's a nice, clean and interesting set-up...
The first page, sets our soon to be protagonist, Dr. Moses Lwanga in a situation he has gotten himseld into later in the book...
We get a brief history of the character, including a recent speech he is giving, sort of showing his displeasure with the instances and ideals surrounding the events taking place in Northern Uganda...
We see him having nightmares at times, seemingly related to a voice he is hearing inside of himself, which manifests itself in a violent manner while back in the situation of being about to be killed as shown on the first page...
We also see him seemingly either project or mentally find himself in different situations, not related exactly to where he is physically at the moment...
He ends up carving up his face, hoping to expose the evil...and the issue ends...
Now, I know absolutely nothing about the original Unknown Soldier, so don't know how, if at all, this ties in...so sorry if I'm missing something...
but in this new characters case, we get a look at how he views the situation and how strongly he not only believes in what he is doing, but how much of his own time and self he is investing in that area...
The art, also blends well, solidifying this book...
I know we've had discussions about the "next big" vertigo book over the course of this board, and seemingly alot of people think House of Mystery is just that...
Honestly, behind the strength of this book, if people give it a try, I think this will be it. It has a solid, intruiguing and well told story, along with nice art. I was absolutely happy that I decided to try this book...
