It was a light week for me, so I decided to try this book out...glad I did...

It's a nice, clean and interesting set-up...
The first page, sets our soon to be protagonist, Dr. Moses Lwanga in a situation he has gotten himseld into later in the book...

We get a brief history of the character, including a recent speech he is giving, sort of showing his displeasure with the instances and ideals surrounding the events taking place in Northern Uganda...

We see him having nightmares at times, seemingly related to a voice he is hearing inside of himself, which manifests itself in a violent manner while back in the situation of being about to be killed as shown on the first page...
We also see him seemingly either project or mentally find himself in different situations, not related exactly to where he is physically at the moment...
He ends up carving up his face, hoping to expose the evil...and the issue ends...

Now, I know absolutely nothing about the original Unknown Soldier, so don't know how, if at all, this ties in...so sorry if I'm missing something...
but in this new characters case, we get a look at how he views the situation and how strongly he not only believes in what he is doing, but how much of his own time and self he is investing in that area...

The art, also blends well, solidifying this book...

I know we've had discussions about the "next big" vertigo book over the course of this board, and seemingly alot of people think House of Mystery is just that...
Honestly, behind the strength of this book, if people give it a try, I think this will be it. It has a solid, intruiguing and well told story, along with nice art. I was absolutely happy that I decided to try this book...

Damn, this came out already? I've been a fan of the character since that old Ennis mini. That does make my expectations fairly high for this.

Don't wait... I just finished this not five minutes ago, and I highly recommend this title to any and all comics fans who don't mind some heavy content.

Dysart does it again.

This is definitely being added to my pull list.

This was very good all-around. Very unique territory from what im used to, as far as comics go. Ill even admit I wasnt really aware of what was going on in Uganda till after reading this, which is sadly shameful. I supose thats one of the main points of this story.

It's good, but for some reason it's starting out a bit more like the Human Target than Unknown Soldier.

I got issue 1 out of impusle and the interest i have had for the character since Ennis mini. I didnt buy it because of Ennis praise in cover but because of his mini that made me like the idea of the character.

I like dark, real life content, african angle. As african myself i have an extra interest in the setting, story. The idea of a pacifist like this doctor snapping of those horrors is very appealing to me.

I liked the first issue and the art that looked too thin and stiff in the early part of the issue of the looked much better when the main character was in North Uganda camp and when he went nuts.

It will stay in my pull list and i cant wait to see how the story goes on.

I'm glad I picked this up, it was a pretty grisly read but I'm interested to see were it goes.

B.P.R.D 1945 mini with Mignola i think. They talked about this comic in Hellboy forum actually because of that connection.
