Which version of Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist was better (not necessarily in a fight)? The first Greed (the only one in the anime) or the new Greed (who took over Ling Yao).

Personality wise they are essentially the same (duh), but which one looks cooler and does Ling Yao's previous skills make the second one a better fighter?

I checked and didn't see a thread for this, but if I missed it... oops.

I'm pretty sure there should be a Fullmetal Alchemist Discussion Thread here somewhere. We use those rather then start new topics for popular titles.

Also, there's a new Greed? I need to start reading FMA again. oO

well, their personalities ARE different. although they share all of the same basic attributes these characters are invested with different forms of meaning.

they're both interesting in their own treacherous ways--but the new version is more interesting. Ling Yao's personality STILL manages to seep through the cracks. I believe the original "Greed" was made from scratch, whereas the new version is a normal human being which has been turned into a homonculus--much like Wrath was created. as a result, it's a bit different.

I like them both, but I do prefer the new version of Greed... because, as a result of a few significant little scenes, you're not entirely sure which direction he'll go. it's not simply that he's ego-centric and wants to "have it all" at the expense of both humans and the other homunculi--the human aspect of him (which is similar), is trying to fight for the status of his clan as well.
