ok, i have all the Hellboy books as single issues and was wanting to buy the trade collections, also.
my question is do the Library Editions contain all the extra exclusive stories/ pages from the trades, or are they just basically the single issues in a collected format?

they have new intros, extended sketchbook sections and unpublished artwork. These are well worth the cost and should be in your collection.

Speaking of the Library Editions; does anyone know what the next one is scheduled to include and when it will appear?

I'm pretty sure that everything in the Troll Witch collection will be the next since all of those stories take place before Worm. It's my understanding that the Library editions are all put together in chronological order.

I was pretty impressed with the extras section in Vol 2.

If that's the case shouldn't "Pancakes" be in Volume One right after Hellboy came ot earth in the Seed flashback? Seems like they are doing them in published chronological order and not in the timeline.

Are these volumes worth it if I already own some of the Trades? I know only I can make that decision, but how nice is it exactly to read from those big pages, look at the extra stuff, and not worry about ruining the spine every time you open the book?

Well, they're nice.
For the material they seem downright perfect to me (for quality both as easy handling: they don't get dented or be-finger-smudged). The spine and binding too (well sturdy - won't ever come loose since normal use won't be wearing it down). The print quality, coloring and large-ness is dreamy.
And the extra's are exta. And good.

You've got me there.
