I think we need a Grey's thread for the two of us that watch it. So, who's the other one?

Random thoughts on tonight's episode:

Wow, I am really not digging the new, angry Chief. I hope something happens where he realizes that being a dick does nothing to help the reputation of the hospital. All it does is make angry, grumpy surgeons.

The dermatology department scenes were the highlight of the episode. The fact that it looks different from the rest of the hospital. And that everyone is happy, and laid back. As Yang said, they are empty and happy. But as the residents realized they could never be that way. They live to see surgeries. They could never be that way.

Wow, Alex has become a super dick. He runs around stealing surgeries. And while he admits to being an ass, there are no redeeming factors to him right now. I was really glad Izzie stole the case back from him.

What happened to Lexie? I thought I saw her, oh, there she is, still with that same patient Yang left her with near the beginning of the episode. And she's gone again. And where are the rest of Yang's interns? I couldn't even tell at first who Izzie asked to get the guy a CT done until I realized it was one of her interns.

Wow, the guy with no face in surgery was creepy. And when George brought the kid into that surgery instead of Hahn's it was great. And then the kid wanted to go back into that operating room instead of Hahn's boring operation. Fun stuff there.

The ending was sad since Lexie has been there with George the entire time he was repeating his internship, but as soon as he passed the test, he ran back to his resident friends and left her all alone. I wonder if this will be the new part of the dynamic between the two of them. George being around her less since he feels he can hang with his old friends more.

Overall, a fun episode, and the show is definitely on the upswing after the shortened previous season and the bumps the show took between season three (George's marriage and sleeping with Izzie) and last season (*cough*Rose*cough*). I thought the first few episodes this season were a bit weak, especially with the angry chief fighting to regain the hospital's teaching credibility. And the fact that since then everything they have been doing seems to be for the purpose of ruining that reputation further.

Now, I gotta admit, I wish I had seen this ep JUST to see that and get the context of it.

But as it is, yeah, I'm kinda glad I traded Grey's Anatomy for Private Practice based on what you just said. Everyone on that show seems like analogues of the characters from Grey's Anatomy, only better. I gave up last season, and honestly I would have gave it a shot this season if I hadn't forgotten the premier was coming soon. But either through coincidence or bad timing on MY part, I caught more promos for Private Practice's season premiere and thus was able to program my DVR.

True, it might be the nature of the show: by the very title of the show you know it'll be a closer knit group with a loose command structure. Still, I guess that just appeals to me more. Plus no George/Izzie helps, too.

I'm glad they're playing down the comedic aspect of the show, Grey's is supposed to be a drama not a comedy. Its sad that Richard is putting the reputation of the hospital over the needs of the patient, especially when the pipes broke in the OR.
