I was sitting outside on my patio drinking a Budlight and smoking a red with 311 playing and I got to thinking what kind of music do the marvel characters listen to. I listen to everything... Steve Miller Band, Slayer, Three 6 Mafia etc what do ya'll think the marvel characters listen to?

Ares gets up every morning to Reigning Blood by Slayer or Die MotherFer Die by Dope

Spidey: Probably Something a long the lines of 311 or Punk Rock

Punisher: He doesn't listen to music he listens to the sound of .45 rounds or 5.56 being chambered so he can kill people

Doom: Probably classical music

Johnny Storm: Whatevers popular at the club.

Logan: Probably classic rock like Zepplin or Skynard

Cage: Old School rap like Dre, NWA, Snoop Dogg, Warren G etc

Spidey definitely likes some classic Atlantic soul. I definitely recall an issue of Amazing Spider-Man from either the Romita Sr. era or the Ross Andru era where somebody is checking out Peter Parker's record collection and pulls out an Areatha Franklin album.

Edit: Sorry, was I supposed to give a serious answer to this thread?

I don't see Cage listening to gangsta rap. He'd probably be into more concious hip hop, old and new.

I doubt Stark would listen to Black Sabbath...probably more along the lines of contemporary blues or jazz

There was one stroy where the purple man told spider man to recite shakespeare and he did not know much beyond what everyone does. He sadi how about some Elvis Costello and started to sing. Granted this was years ago, if it were written now it would be Coldplay or Keane probably.

I'd kind of like to see a scene like this unfold actually. Yeah, Peter Parker did used to listen to Elvis Costello back in the early 80's, I distinctly remember that. And Marvel did have Mr. Fantastic listening to Tom Leher at one point during Civil War. And we know that Ben Grimm is a Sinatra fan because he tried (off panel) to use Doom's time machine to bring the Rat Pack forward in time for his birthday. I can't honestly see Steve Rogers liking too much Sousa though, but definitely Miller, the Andrews Sisters or Tommy Dorsey. All the vet GI's I know far preferred the big band sound over the marching stuff. I could see Bucky as being a Spike Jones fan when he was a kid. I can picture him and Toro laughing their asses off over 'Der Fuhrer's Face'. I can see Tony Stark listening to David Hasselhoff and Michael Bolton (shudder!), or Ms. Marvel having some sort of retro-crush on Tom Cruise from the Top Gun days and listening to 'Danger Zone' like she was back in high school again.
James Robinson did a similar take in Starman a few years back when Jack Knight, Green Lantern (Alan Scott) and Batman have this weird discussion over which Woody Allen movie was their favorite. The Spectre apparently liked 'Bullets over Broadway'. Kinda makes me think what their marvel counterparts like cinema-wise.

I bet Johnny Storm would be a Smashing Pumpkins fan.

Starlord - Star Wars Episodes IV-VI
Dr. Strange - The Mist (although he probably thinks it's a comedy due to whatever 'inaccuracies' he can find in it)
Iron Fist - Enter the Dragon
The Aquarian - The Passion of the Christ
Mephisto - The Devil's Advocate
J. Jonah Jameson - Citizen Kane
Wolverine, circa Old Man Logan - A History of Violence
The Punisher - Death Wish
Detective Lamont - Serpico
Norman Osborn - Nixon (again, probably thinks of it as a comedy because it's so not how he would do it)
Iron Man - The Aviator
Amadeus Cho - The Man Who Knew Too Much
The Shocker - Shocker
Magneto - Mother Night
Black Widow - Battleship Potemkin
War Machine - Robocop
Cable - The Day the Earth Stood Still
Bishop - Primer
Black Box - Rear Window
Deadpool - After Hours
Machine Man - Doesn't watch movies, as he prefers television. He watches Futurama and Battlestar Galactica, as he identifies with Bender and Colonel Tigh.
Aunt May - She remembers seeing Birth of a Nation in theaters when she was in her 90s, so it's hard to top that for her. Plus, she fought in the Civil War. The North/South one, not the Cap/Tony one.
Silver Surfer - Starman
Venom - The Silence of the Lambs
Blade - Nosferatu

And there ya have it. I can see Sue Richards liking chick flicks like 'Steel Magnolias'. Reed probably likes Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis.'
And on the music front, Johnny probably does like Smashing Pumpkins but hates Zwan. If he weren't such a man-whore himself, he'd probably hate Billy Corgan too after boinking that skank Courtney Love.

I don't see Cage listening to gangsta rap. He'd probably be into more concious hip hop, old and new.

Actually, given Cage's love of old movies and such, I could see them saying he doesn't listen to hip hop at all and just listens to stuff like old jazz.

Frank Castle listens to Enya.

I remember an 80s issue of Spider-Man where he meets The Foreigner for the first time. He says something like: "Foreigner, huh? Gee, I have all your albums."

I can imagine Deadpool listening to Weird "Al" Yancovick, in fact I'm positive he's even referenced that in an issue somewhere...

I would find it great if Cage was into show tunes. Gilbert and Sullivan type stuff. The dichotomy would make me smile.

Hells yes! I can see him cleaning an AR-15 with 'Sail Away' blaring in the background. Hilarious, dude. Nice one.
