Based on this trivia clue:
I look like a tree (of the northern hemisphere) but that doesn't stop me from being impervious to bullets and being able to fly in outer space. I'm also super-strong.
I figured you would be the people to ask!

Ummm....the only superhero that comes to mind is Floronic Man. He used to be in DC's New Guardians comic back in the late 80's. He was basically a guy who became a plant-human creature with a variety of nature-related powers. Not sure if he was bullet proof or could fly in space or whatever though.
Here's some pix...

I think he may've originally started out as a villain but he was certainly a hero in the New Guardians series. According to wikipedia he's returned to being a super-villain again now though.

Sounds like one of the myriad of Kirby creations from the Marvel monster comics, PINUS, TREE-GOD FROM THE DARK DIMENSION!
Or maybe it's Douglas the Mighty Fir.
Come to think of it, could it be Groot? He was a tree monster from Tales to Astonish...

Would this obscurity be hero or villain?

Guys, I think the point is that this is a riddle, and that it's not to be taken literally.
"Who is the mighty oak, strongest in the forest of DC heroes?" SUPERMAN!

Yeah, i was thinking that it was a riddle or even worse, a cryptic crossword clue (I'm rubbish at those).
The statement that you've put in quote marks, who said that? Is that a well known DC phrase or something?

The Hulk?
He's green (like a tree), invulnerable to bullets and super-strong. Flying in space may be stretching it a bit though.

Isn't it Swamp Thing? I mean, he looks like a tree, is certainly stronger than any man, bullets just pass right through him, and did that planet hopping thing in the...Veitch years, I think?

Oakman, from the British comic Jackpot. The wording of the riddle is even taken almost verbatim from the power description here:

Interesting. Although I have to say, that flat-top makes it look like someone sawed his brain off.

No, not a quote... just my way of summarizing.
I was WAY WAY off anyway... it was some British log of wood.
