I did post a link to this picture I made before, but it was sort of of topic and got null response so you probably missed it.. or it just plain sucks? I drew it for a 'wired sience' jam over at drawingboard.org.
Well.. let me know what you think either way.

I like it. Maybe vary your line weights so you can have some heavier lines on the outside of the figure giving it some dimension.

Wow thank you! It is really nice to have posetive feedback. Its like a vitamin shot or something! Ha... thanks!
dogboy443, i know exactly what you mean, but I was intentionally trying to avoid using heavy lines to foreshort more. Mr Mignola seems to get away without using it much, so I figured I would give it a shot. Haha, and as you noted I did NOT get away with it.
Anyway, thank you all for the kind comments!

Very nice! Always great to see more Kroenen stuff, Well the comic counter part anyway. Don't get me wrong I love Kroenen but many fans only really care for the Movie Kroenen.

Another one. I was sitting around waiting for someone and luckely brought my sketchpad. This was the result. I inked it when I got back home since I was rather happy with how it turned out.

My first real attempt to draw Abe Sapien. I love this character. Especially in the earlier Hellboy stories. Not so much in the movies where he gives me a to weak impression.
The original for this one Is the cover for The Drowning, but I just could not draw all the details of the original. I narowed it down to what you se here. Just Abe and the fish. I just ordered The Drowning and am looking forward to reading it. However Like Mr Mignola himself once said ( or wrote ) 'I kind of liked the idea that Abe had no background, he was just a guy they found, forgotten in a jar.'

This is what I made for the Hellboy Forum Holliday Art Exchange 2008. As you can se it is Hellboy and Hecate, but it is a product of two diffrent Mignola pictures. So it is at least original in its composition. It is painted with acrylic colours on canvas-textured paper. Look at the detail shot and you will get an Idea of what it looks like. Actually this painting looks much cooler in real life then on these pictures.
I posted it this morning, I wonder what I will recieve?

Good choice, it is very Hellboy-ish.

Pangea: Thanks, Im sure Hellboy would find that beast in notime. He has a way of walking into this kind of situations, doesn't he.
jnapper: Me too! I think they both turned out nice. I have read 'The Drowning' now and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Both with the story, which I found great and Jason Alexanders artwork was excellent. ( not like Mignolas of course, but that goes without saying  )
Kees_L: I have a few more like that that I will post sometime soon. I have been drawing a loooot of Hellboy sketches lately.
Thank you all!

Here is the Formal Mr Boy.
This is another one of those ten minute sketches I do when I sit around and wait. Sometimes they come out OK.

Ha, yep all dressed up and nowhere to go. The Nobel Prize gala is tomorrow he should fit in nicely in the crowd with the suit on.
I have started re-reading my Hellboy TPBs again. I just got to 'Almost Colossus' in the awesome 'The Chained Coffin and Others'. The title page has a classic Mignola statue and the sun and moon symbols on it. I decided to try draw it and here it is... Almost Mignola.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ub8CZaFmxOk/ST7ZY_2yA_I/AAAAAAAAAEI/WKMVniaW0dE/s320/AlmostColossus.jpg
EDIT:
Still inspired by the 'Almost Colossus' drawing from the other day I drew this angel statue today at work. I usually doodle on the back of workorders or other piece of papers I happen to have handy. This one I did on my lunchbreak. and as I got to the part of adding the nicks and dents on the statue I realized that was missing from the drawing I did yesterday. So now I added some rough texture to that one too.

A month or so ago at my inlaws house I opened a book of local ghost stories. It is called 'Stockholms Spökhus'. It translates 'The Haunted Houses of Stockholm'. I looked up an adress close to where I was just then and came across a story that was just perfect Hellboy material!
A story started to form in my head and the other day I got around to sketch the first frames. I have no idea how to do this but I will make it up as I go. I use my Hellboy books as reference when drawing the characters and even most of the poses are on loan from the books.
Perhaps I will learn to draw Hellboy so well by the end of the story that I can do my own compositions. Hopefully I will be able to finish it before I run out of steam!

I just started working on my own Hellboy compositions so I know how difficult it can be.

Thank you Mimschkin. I had to go ahead and ink the first page, just to see if the I could live with the result. And I think it will work.

Good stuff so far, although I would work up the plane a bit more, get some photo reference.
Roblin
05-24-2009, 10:05 PM
Thanks, yes I think I will do that. I'm actually a bit of a aeronautics nerd so it is extraordinarily lazy of me to not pic a photoreference for that plane, haha. Photos of aircraft is not exactly hard to find on the interweb. That plane is obviesly trying to be a Gulfstream or something. I was toying with the idea of letting Hellboy fly on a commercial airliner, but I did not go through with it.
I am stuck looking for other reference images at the moment. I will have to find time to go out shooting some own reference pictures I think.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
