View Full Version : Anyone go to the Manitoba Comicon?

I did and had a BLAST!
I met Kurt Busiek (great guy to talk to... signed a Superman comic), Erica Durance from Smallville (a real hottie and quite tall!), Helen Slater (Supergirl who I had a massive crush on when I was younger), Levar Burton and John DeLancie both of Star Trek TNG (Burton was great DeLancie was a jerk).
I also snagged a TON of comics in great shape. I finished off my original Invaders run with #8, I picked up a ton of bronze age books (Ms Marvel, Spider-Woman, Red Sonja, Batman and Savage She-Hulk) along with some other issues needed for runs like Captain America Vol 1, Wonder Woman Vol 1, Amazing Spidey, Further Adventures of Indiana Jones (hard to find in high grade) and a bunch more stuff. I ended up with about 120 issues to fill in gaps in my runs!
PLUS I met up with an old friend and had a great visit! It was a great weekend (until the blizzard my wife and I ran into on the way home... oh, and the fuel pump on the car went too). But all the bad of the trip home couldn't surpass the great weekend I had.
Did anyone else make it?

No, because I live in a real country.

LOL
How's that health care working out for ya? And the banking crisis? Or how about your dependence on foreign oil? (did you know Canada is now your #1 supplier?) Two words: George Bush.
Sounds to me like your "real" country is built on a foundation of sand and is too dependent on others.
Thanks, but I'll stick to Canada

Nice to meet you, sir!
My weird moment of the con was being in the guest hospitality room, watching Justin Hartley's daughter be adorable while nearby, Hartley, Gerard Christopher and Erica Durance were talking about planes or something, and thinking, "Okay, you're Lois, I've written you, you were Superboy, I've written you, and you were Aquaman and are currently Green Arrow, I've written both of you..."

LOL
Funny stuff!
My wife Erin wants me to thank you for giving her an honest answer to her question on female proportions in comic art. She's also going to read my Astro City books because you made a great impression on her and were fun to talk to.
She also said I should apologize for my "geeking out" while talking to you.
Thanks again for the special autograph too. My copy of Marvels is now safely secured with your autograph!!

How's it feel getting dragged down with us, along with the rest of the world?
And who says American isn't the most important nation?

Our banking system is in a lot better shape. Our economy is too.
Plus we have hockey.
And who says American isn't the most important nation?
Canadians.

Hey guys I'm new, I found this forum through searching about Erica Durance and the Manitoba Comic Con, because I've been looking everywhere and have yet to find any info about it... was wondering if you guys can give me any kind of report about what went on, if she did a Q&A session, if she mentioned anything about her character and Smallville? Its crazy that there isn't any posts or news about it anywhere :/
Thanks in advance!

Hey Trish, welcome to the forum.
Because there was no major announcements from any company probably explains why there's no coverage. It was a comic/sci-fi show but that's about it.
Erica did a Q&A though I only caught the last 10 minutes of t and then I got in line for my autograph and picture with her.
