You know, they never get it right about what the terrorists are after, do they? Russel Crowes character waffles about the same old cliches about chaos or bringing down western civilization, but nobody has really given a true interpretation of why the terrorists are doing this. I don't buy that these people are all crazies. Crazies don't plan together this good, and use up people for no good reason.

I would just like somebody to come up with a suitable reason why these terrorists are attacking the foundations of western culture. Even if it's as simple as that it's an overflow of the type of violent culture inherent in the Middle East. That would be logical, if not sane. But really, why bring the terror to the streets of Manhattan, if the people there don't know what the hell they are doing it for? Somebody has to answer that question.

As for the movie itself, there is a whole range of duplicity going on there, from the agents on the ground to the eggheads in the states, to the security forces in the countries. It is very confusing, and life isn't worth a pinch of salt. The main concern of the agents is that if there is a chance they are going to be captured, to have his buddy kill him, because nobody wants to shown on TV having their head cut off. So first point of order. Shoot your selves before you get captured. There is a bit of romance, no sex it's the Middle East, and you have to talk to the sister before there is any talk of dating.

Go read 'What went wrong', by Bernard Lewis. It should give provide you with the answers you are looking for.

Anyway I saw this film, and to be frank I really didn't like it, I just found it boring.

But I will say this, I was more interested in the chief of the Jordanian Secret service, a man called Hani, than I was in the Crowe and Dicaprio character. He could teach James Bond a thing or two on charm and how to dress. If Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne had displayed at least half as much discipline and self control as Hani did in this film, I would have enjoyed TDK much more than I did. Lord I could marry that man!

It was intresting to contrast and compare. Hani's fastidious grooming to Crowe's fat and sloppy station chief. It was also interesting to compare Hani's cool calm demenour to DiCaprio's hyper and emotional character. It really made you wonder on who should be really calling the shots.

Wiki doesn't really say much. But are you saying that the attacks on 911 are because the Middle East was left behind in the technological race, and because they can't catch up they either, 1) want to bomb us to the stone age; 2) are peed off because we hold all the cards?

Assuming some of what Wiki stated was true, that the ME was left behind Technologically, you would think someone would be smart enough to formulate a plan long before this, knowing this would present a problem like terrorism down the line. If something like the IMF was geared up to put pressure on countries to educate their populations before handouts, maybe the ME would have had enough potential to challenge the West in technology by now, and we would have avoided the whole 911 event, because the ME wouldn't be exporting their culture cringe. But instead, the ME refuses to address the education of it's populations, and keeps them in the stone age, so that when they see all the technologically bizarre goings on with Democratic ingenuity, the ME gets green eye, and a combination of horror, with the way the world has passed them by, that they just start blowing themselves and the Weatern world to smithereens.
