It could possibly work as a horror movie.
That way Hollywood can slap on a plot, some degree of acting, and tons of gore.

Back on topic, this is going to be a disaster.

The thing about that though is when Hollywood sees animated animal characters they see it as a product that should be aimed at kids. Although if the creator of The Simpsons is given creative control then that would be different.

I see nothing good coming out of a live action Tom & Jerry film.

It's impossible at times to come up with innovative notions for runaround fare like this

Bring 'em back in a series of throwback animated shorts in a parody of Fantasia-esque porportions, but not this.

As for the Yogi movie...all of Yogi's best stuff came in ensemble peices like Yogi's Great Escape, and Yogi's Treasure Hunt

What's the point of a live-action Tom & Jerry? Aren't the only characters anyone cares about animals anyway? I can't even think of any human characters except for Mammy, and they edit her out of the cartoons nowadays.

Sigh! We're going to have one or two bored Holywood stars phoning it in a plot no one cares for most of the movie, with the cat and mouse doing very litle, arent we?

In this G-rated movie with no slapstick cartoon violence whatsoever, Tom and Jerry have to get along in order to find the magical jewel of friendship. Also, this movie features a lot of musical singing numbers, and in one scene, T&J will also breakdance. Plus I hear Carrot Top's gonna make a cameo appearance for about half the movie. AND, you'll get to see a pre-movie short of me cutting my wrists in protest.

Forget that crap there hasnt been a single T&J toon that has been any good since the late 50s all the movies and modern takess since have been abismal tom and jerry kids?, tom and jerry the movie? ERGHHH.

I was watching the episode where jerry saves spike and is told "just whistle if you need me" now tell me if any modern T&J story can compare to that 5 minte toon.

Live action hong kong phooey? I love the guy but wtf?

The show was never any good anyway it was created to fit into that craze for kung fu in the 70s the most memorable part of that toon was Scatman Crothers voice and the opening theme.

I thought the more recent Tom and Jerry movies were bad enough. I mean, watch for about 10 minutes and see if you don't smash your boot into the television.

But a CGI movie? Seriously, I HATE CGI movies now!

The first Alvin and the Chipmunks made money. It was never #1, but damn if it didn't stay in the top #5 forever it seems.

So, if it made money, why wouldn't the flood gates open so to speak with other properties given the CGI treatment? Hollywood likes to make money, apparently, and these movies, make money.

Your childhood won't be "destroyed", either go back and watch the old eps or pretend these movies don't exist. Or, you know, accept that the movies are there to 1) make money and 2) appeal to someone 10 years old or younger, not you. Or not, whichever.

Honestly, as much as I hated the cartoon growing up, I wouldn't mind seeing a Gummi Bears movie given the CGI Alvin & the Chipmunks treatment.
