I'm currently listening to the B-52's(self titled, Funplex, and Wild Planet on repeat) because I'm in dire need of a pick me up. It's beginning to work!
What do you listen to when you're feeling down and confused?

George Michael's "Faith" album. In fact, I think I'm due for a listen about now.

A band that always makes me feel good or more cheerful than I was before I put them on is Canned Heat.
The Bonzo Dog/Doo Dah Band also never fail to raise a smile.

Well, Hey Jude is the definition of uplifting in my book but as far as albums go, A Hard Days Night is probably their most effective pick-me-up LP.
I always found Exile on Main Street by the Stones to be oddly uplifting too but maybe that's just me.
Ultimately though I would recommend picking up Van Morrison's Moondance album, a singles collection of the Rascals and anything at all from the Faces.

Waitin' on a Sunny Day by Bruce Springsteen is such a great song.

Mostly pop music. Recently it's been The Pipettes, Vampire Weekend, and Chrisette Michele.

Change - Blind Melon
Shower Your Love - Kula Shaker
She is Love - Oasis
Those songs always put me in a good mood.
Also, pretty much anything by The Polyphonic Spree.

I had a friend who used to listen to metal when he was "angry," which is something I've never understood. I've never relied on particular music to influence my mood ... maybe it's always struck me as being a little too close to Phillip K. Dick's "Penfield Mood Organ." I don't need to be pissed off to listen to Danzig, nor do I expect Danzig to piss me off.
That being said, if I want to maintain a good mood I stay the hell away from Pink Floyd (unless Syd Barrett is involved.)
