I just got a Wii for my anniversary and I'm looking to pick up any good Gamecube games I missed since my last console was a PS2. I'm already getting Mario Golf, Eternal Darkness, Paper Mario and Mario Sunshine (I took my brother's copy since he never played it anyhow). I'm probably not going to get Wind Waker. So any other games worth getting?

Well, aside from the argument that Wind Waker is definitely worth getting, my personal list would include Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4 and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

I already have RE4 for the PS2 so that's taken care of. So in essence, no games I can get for the PS2 (since they are cheaper and easier to find).
I was thinking of just getting SSB for the Wii so I can have 4 player matches (2 Wiimotes and 2 Gamecube pads).
I'm discounting Wind Waker only because I've heard both good and bad (mostly I have no patience for the boat parts) but it's a game I know would be included by many and a game I'm considering.

Even tho you already have it on your list, Eternal Darkness is a must have. Make that the first game you purchase.
I'd also agree Wind Waker is worth getting, especially if you are a big zelda fan.

Ikaruga. Old school Japanese shooter awesomeness.

Normally I would start with Metroid Prime, but supposedly it's going to be remade for the Wii in the not-too-distant-future, so it might be just as well to wait and see.
Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 are simple, cleverly designed games with lots of minigames and replay value. Essential GC titles.
F-Zero GX is one of my favorites, though the difficulty seems very unforgiving at first and takes some getting used to.
Wind Waker is worth looking at to find out if you're in the "love it" camp or the "hate it" camp. Twilight Princess is a better game overall but I think of Wind Waker more fondly because it was so different.
I would suggest getting the Wii Smash Bros. and passing on Melee. They are very similar games. Melee has a better adventure mode but otherwise Brawl has more features.

Resident evil.
Pretty good remake with a new graphics engine on it. Has alot of areas to it and some stuff not in the original. I liked it alot.
http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-GameCube/dp/B0000657SP/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223517468&sr=8-4
Metal gear solid twin snakes.
Another remake. It runs on the mgs2 engine so it has far superior graphics and its essentially exactly the same. The control scheme is odd for about a hour then you get used to it. But its a solid title.
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Snakes-game-cube/dp/B0000A09EN/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223517596&sr=1-6
Battalion wars.
Essentially its like the advance wars games on the gameboy advance only in 3d. its alot of fun to play thats like action and strategy mixed in a kind of fun light hearted battlefield.
http://www.amazon.com/Battalion-Wars-GameCube/dp/B0009XEC0M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223517708&sr=1-2
Viewtiful joe.
A sidescroller beat em up like from days past, only its very original for the most part and just alot of fun to play with good gameplay mechanics and controls. Its very strange but fun.
http://www.amazon.com/Viewtiful-Joe-GameCube/dp/B00009KO3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223517854&sr=1-1
Paper mario.
Its still based off the original mario rpg on the snes series (only not made by square anymore) but it has a cool sense of style and one of the few rpgs on the GC worth owning.
http://www.amazon.com/Paper-Mario-Thousand-Year-Original-Players-GameCube/dp/B0017S9NIY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223518017&sr=1-2
Resident evil 4.
A really great RE game, even if its not based as much purely in the RE universe as Id like it is still good, maybe thats a reason I liked it alot is because the story was different than normal. It has alot of "OH SH**" moments and some nifty gameplay ideas and the over the shoulder view does help alot.
http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-4-GameCube/dp/B0002A6CQ4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223518152&sr=1-4
Metroid prime.
While it does seem kind of descolate at times and not the same feeling as previous metroid games its pretty good, even if it does feel like a shooter with some gimmicks. But I did enjoy it for one play through and it was designed very well.
http://www.amazon.com/Metroid-Prime-GameCube/dp/B00006IJJK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223518275&sr=1-2
Ikaruga.
Insanely hard top down shooter but man is it alot of run (and hard) with some neat gameplay ideas. Its fast paced and your gonna die alot but its made more for the hardcore shooter guys from the like nes era of action games.
http://www.amazon.com/Ikaruga-Gamecube/dp/B00008VFBV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223518510&sr=1-1
Soul calibur 2.
Yeah it was released on other systems but on the GC one you could play as link. Still solid fighter like all the other SC games.
http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Calibur-2-game-cube/dp/B00008H2IS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223518818&sr=1-2

Metroid Prime, Wind Waker and Killer7 are must-plays.
Other good titles are Viewtiful Joe, Eternal Darkness, and SoulCalibur II.

Again, I know you're not sure about Wind Waker, but here's something to consider.
If you're a fan of Ocarina of Time's story, then you'll most likely enjoy Wind Waker as well. As the game progresses, you realize Wind Waker is actually a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time. That was one of the things I enjoyed most about playing the game. There are lots of "Oh Sh*t" moments throughout the game that deal with references to OoT.

I know you said you didnt want wind waker and I see alot of people despite you saying you didnt want it are trying to say otherwise.
I will say wind waker kind of sucks. I think it gets alot of automatic credit just because it is a zelda game and others because of the cutesy graphics. I havent liked a zelda game myself since the pretendo 64 ones. They dont feel like zelda games, just some action adventure game with a zelda title, link thrown in and a couple familliar names. WW's controls are decent, the camera isnt to hot and its fairly generic nintendo feeling game when you play it. Id say its a decently solid title by itself, but to praise it simply as a zelda title is way off. Twilight princess was better but even that wasnt that great. There are alot better games on the gamecube than wind waker that I would say get first.

Wind Waker is fun for a while, but the exploration is incredibly boring and led me to stop playing the game altogether.
Twilight Princess is better in every way.

Okay, first thanks for the suggestions so far. However additional suggestions are still greatly appreciated.
It seems most of the suggestions mirror what I already though so here's what I'm getting/got so far:
Mario Sunshine (took my brother's copy)
Mario Golf (already ordered)
Paper Mario (about to order as in tomorrow)
Eternal Darkness (about to order as in tomorrow)
As for the other suggestions:
Metriod Prime- I figure I'll just get the 3rd one for the Wii (I hear there is less exploration)
Wind Waker- Not a huge Zelda fan and I would not bother with the exploration (I have little time to play these as it is) so I'm going to pass for now. I will probably get Twilight Princess at some point though
F-Zero: I have little patience for old school difficulty and I already have Mario Cart Wii so I'm going to skip it (although I do have a foundness for the original F-Zero which I played on the old SNES arcade machine).
Soul Calibur 2/RE4- Already own for the PS2 (can't bring myself to buy another version)
Ikaruga- No patience for an old school shooter (I hated then on the NES)
Monkey Balls- Fun game but they released a compilation for the PS2 so no go.
Battalion wars- Sounds interesting I'm going to look into this one more.
Killer 7- I am considering getting this but I'll probably wait (and see if the PS2 version is cheaper).
Thanks again for the recommendations, I appreciate any addition recommendations since I'll probably ask for any remainder for the holidays.

I will say that the GC version looks better and from what I've read, plays better than the PS2 version.

You should maybe rent Resident Evil 4 one time, though. It's definitely better than the PS2 version. (Remember how much more ass Mortal Kombat 2 kicked on the SNES than on the Genesis? Same deal here.)

I hate exploration and loved Wind Waker. It's just a damn fun game. Haven't played TP, yet.
Tales of Symphonia's a pretty good RPG (though it sounds like you don't have much time, so it might not be for you).
Can't recommend Viewtiful Joe enough. Awesome game.
I'm actually rather fond of Mario Kart: Double Dash, as the "tandem" riding actually offers a pretty unique (and, in my opinion, improved) multiplayer experience. If you don't have anyone else to play with it, it's basically business as usual, though.
Medal of Honor: Frontline is a pretty solid "true" FPS. You'll have fun with it if you're into the genre at all.
F-Zero GX is great because it's challenging enough to offer a good single-player experience even if you don't have people to play with. It has a Loooooot of features and unlockables, including customizing your own racers to keep you entertained.
DK: Jungle Beat. I know what you're thinking but dude--this game is fun as heck. I played it once at a friends house and liked it so much I bought it for myself on the way home. Offbeat, for sure, but fun as heck.
Zelda: Four Swords is an awesome "party" game. It's enjoyable enough with just one buddy and a riot with four. Each of you has to have a GBA though, so that's a downside.

I love Mario Kart Double Dash.
Zelda Windwaker although you said you were not a fan.
Sunshine is fun but got boring quickly for me. Nothing like galaxy.
Beyond that I don't know what to tell you. Gamecube honestly killed my drive to play video games. I took a three year hiatus after I bough my gamecube and gave it away less then a year later. The only good thing to come out of it was the Wavebird controller which I still love.
PS: Melee was fun but I'd suggest buying Brawl. Pretty much the same game only updated. Partly why I played Brawl for about 4 hours and have not touched it since.
Oh and my friend loved Luigi's mansion. I've not played it but will one day.

Actually I don't, I had the Genesis version. If I do get RE4 again it would be for the Wii since I had a hell of a time using the cross hairs in the PS2 version (just not a type of play I'm good at).
Tales of Symphonia- I'll look into it. My console games tend to be either platformers or RPGs and I was looking for a few Gamecube specific RPGs.
BTW: Does anyone know if Metriod 3 is less of a pain when it comes to backtracking than it's previous iterations? I don;t mind some backtracking but I hate it when it's either tacked on in a poor manner or just plain annoying (i.e. having to spend more than a few minutes traveling just to move on to what's new).

Good idea. Because the PS2 version is not definitive at all (especially in terms of visuals, Jesus).

Yes, they replaced the long boring boat bits with long boring horse bits
Anyway, make sure to look into Pikmin. It's weird, but fun.
And if you ever do look into an RPG, I suggest Skies of Arcadia Legends.

Thanks, I'll look into those 2. However I just got Paper Mario and Eternal Darkness in the mail so I'll probably wait a little to get new games. Maybe I'll have someone get them for me for Hanukkah.

I don't remember riding on Epona for more than a few moments, but even if my memory is wrong, the landscape in Twilight Princess is far more varied. There's more interesting stuff to look at by far.

Get Rogue Leader. One of the best shooters of that generation.
Pikmin's a really enjoyable puzzle game.
Skies Of Arcadia Legends is an excellent RPG.

If you like Superhero games, I played the heck out of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
And (though I am biased since Spider-Man is my favorite character and Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite title), the Ultimate Spider-Man game was a whole lot of fun. Most fun Spidey game I have ever played.
And count me in for another Windwaker. I have lost count how many times I have played this through.
And finally, I do not care for Metroid:Prime at all. Back in the day it was fun, but revisiting it not too long ago, the controls are VERY clunky and frustrating. I think all of the newer FPS games really show how dated that one was.

I second Tales of Symphonia; and if you get it now, you can beat it just before Tales of Symphonia 2 releases on Wii in America this November.
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and equally awesome.
I don't know about your Metroid plan. Less exploration? I doubt it. It felt about the same, and furthermore its landscapes seem even larger, due to the fact that you travel across 4 or so planets instead of just one like all the other Metroid games. Also, you'll have a hard time understanding some of the story elements if you jump into Prime 3 without doing the other two. You'll be wondering: "Who is this dark energy version of Samus that just randomly popped up and started terrorizing people?"

It could be the lack of a strong central hub, like OoT and MM on the 64, but I found if I was going anywhere I would warp with Midna or risk getting lost in the backtrack. Or it could be that the levels are so big that going it on foot is no longer an option, thus forcing you to use Epona and cutting down on my desire to explore. I OoT I could walk across the map, bombing and rolling into every tree looking for a secret treasure chest or a gold skulltulla, but if I tried that in TP, I'd need to take a nap halfway through the Hylian Field.
Horse combat was MUCH better than boat combat though. God that boat was a death trap.
