This was a fun finale to good, interesting, funny-as-all-get-out little interlude story.
I was laughing so hard at Diana's commentary. It was excellent. The way she interacted with everything surrounding her, the way she looked totally hipster while leaving with her shades, all of it. Damn funny.
The final scene was beautiful. Very heart-warming. :)
Though ... I'm not at all sure what to think about that final line! :o I'm just going to try and not think about it.

This issue was a little weird for me.
The gorillas are awesome and hilarious, as was most of the issue, which kinda makes Diana's behavior as she deals with the Queen of Fables that much more off-putting. In the story, QoF comes off as little more than an annoyance, really--sort of like WW's own Mr. Mxy. She doesn't really do much besides make a really terrible WW movie, for which WW punishes her by kinda cheerfully taunting her while beating her unmercifully (including goring her in the eyes with axes). Even after QoF is defeated, it's implied that WW just continues to beat the shit out of her off-panel because, as Diana laments, she can't be killed. I guess it was all supposed to be in the same humorous context of the rest of the story overall, but it kinda just weirded me out.

as shown would be successful. Amazons are villains in the DCU as a result of the invasion of Washington so anything that portrayed them in a bad light would
work. Speaking of that, why isn't Hypolyta being pursued as a war criminal?

I really enjoyed this one. It's taken me a while to warm up to the book, but I think this fun two parter did it for me. Yes, I even like the albino super soldier monkeys now. The gag on Hollywood screwing with source material continued, but now the several pages we get of Diana witnessing it was quite entertaining.
Chang's art was solid. Kudos to the inking and digital artists, too. There were small details that stood out for me, but nothing that really distracted from the story.

I'd guess it's probably because they're "too silly," because comics is Serious Business!, or something along those lines.
Scipio of The Absorbascon had a brilliant post that covers a bunch of interesting topics, including what things in current comics irk people and why:
The goal in the Platinum Age (at least, I hope) seems to be to merge the best elements of the previous ages, such as
* the deadly seriousness of the Golden Age ("Oh, look, Robin; another pile of dead bodies."),
* the personalization and whimsy of the Silver Age (*Chuckle* "Brainy suggests we have Protty disguise himself as a young Krypto so that Superboy will never realize that Jimmy Olsen was once his baby-sitter on Krypton, which might upset the time-stream!"),
* and the cosmos-spanning, satellite-filling crossover context of the Bronze Age ("I couldn't make the League's adventure against Star-Breaker because I was visiting my mother on Earth-2!" *Editor's note: See "The Canary Cries At Midnight!", in Supergirl 123).
The ratio and nature of that mix you prefer pretty much defines who you are in the universe of DC fans. In the Platinum Age, some readers are shocked to see decapitations and rapes, because they thought we were returning to the innocent Silver Age. Others are displeased by the new existence of dogs in capes. Some resent "being forced to buy other comics" to fully understand the broader context of the comics they regularly read; others rejoice in projects like 52, Brave & Bold, and Justice League Unlimited, books where the entire DC Universe itself is the star. The most I can say to people who are utterly astonished that an entire universe wasn't reconfigured exactly to their liking is "relax, find the parts you like and enjoy them, and don't stress about the rest."
http://absorbascon.blogspot.com/2007/02/keeping-company.html
My take: People who don't like the gorillas are basically the same ones who don't like seeing dogs in capes.

I didn't grow up with the Silver Age so it isn't something I necessarily look at with fondness, but I've been reading more DC than Marvel since its been phased back in.
I can handle the whimsy of the characters as long as they adhere to the internal logic of the story. Diana is supposed to be hiding in a secret i.d? Yet Tom has seen the gorillas at her apt. and Wonder Woman walks around with them in plain sight. I mean you're asking for people to put two and two together.

You know, I totally understand (and don't worry about Tom, there's more story there), but I have to say, there's really no effort to bring back the silver age in my stuff. I just don't think that way. I have versions of characters that I prefer, but not that attempt to bring back a different age.
The truth is, I just like whimsy and charm as their own qualities with their own benefits. And as long as MOST writers are still hung up on grim and gritty to some degree, I feel it's only natural to go against whatever's most popular just for the sheer hell of it.

they used to handle issues like that with robots. Any time someone got too suspcious, Kent or Wayne would just make sure that one of their robot substitutes would make an appearance at the same time they were present. I don't guess WW would use robots but I bet she could get one of her patron gods to craft an illusion for her if needed.

Yeah. Scipio's article is specifically in the context of DC, and wouldn't necessarily carry over to Daredevil or Marvel in general. It's a different tapestry you're working with there (to take this particular example, the prominence of gorillas is historically a DC-specific pecuiarity, so it'd be more out of left field.)
But even so... you can see a little of the same *kind* of thing on Brubaker's Captain America. Which is, by and large, a very "realistic" series... but one that integrates all sorts of elements that are pretty silly, strange, or goofy at their core: like Arnim Zola, Falcon's ability to somehow "talk" to Redwing, Doctor Faustus' magnificent beard....

One complaint: What's with the 'poisoned apple?' It was this whole big thing last issue, and now she just shrugs it off.
Loved the parody of bad Wonder Woman writing, particularly trying to pass off a male masturbation fantasy as a female empowerment fantasy. And anyone else notice the Amazon costumes as well as the WW costume were even skimpier than the real thing?
And see, the Wonder Tot fans finally got their wish... Kinda...
Gotta ask, who was the guy with the beard supposed to resemble? Come on, I know it's some sort of in-joke...
Figured that last panel would have some people screaming...

Might as well ask, while I'm sure Gail's got plotlines in her head for the next three decades --That's why I'm not gonna suggest any-- how far ahead does she usually work? I get that it was kind of a riff on corny action movies, right down to Wonder Woman's cheesy lines ("I have to give this film...a thumbs down!" or something to that effect) but it kinda reminded me of that part in Superman II where Supes goes back to the bar and beats up that dude with his super-strength. It, too, was kinda played for laughs, but I still felt Supes would've been above that, y'know? For me, it was just a weird beat in the story. Maybe that was sorta the point, I dunno.

2. I love "Ambidexterous Dual Axe Technique."
3. I love that Allison has two daughters of different races and Diana didn't even bat an eye.
4. I love Bernard Chang.
5. I am TERRIFIED at what Diana has to face in the coming eight issue arc: The male Amazons, the male Wonder Woman, Genocide, the jilted Olympian Pantheon, the return of the Amazons. I'm terrified!

There's always trades. Speaking of which, tell DC to get off their asses and put them out more often. Oh right... Her name was Astarte or something?
I let myself be misguided by the GCD info to this issue.

Yep, Astarte, Empress of the Silver Snake.
Oh, and Gail? She's female.
Lady Lunar, if I remember right, was a female variation on the Moon Man. Some pre-Crisis WW connection; she was in astronaut training with Diana Prince. But I think she fought Superman and Batman.

Chubby, boy-crazed, possibly candy-addicted sidekick? How many ways does Ms. Marvel aspire to be Wonder Woman again? lol Brian Reed has miles to go before reaching Gail's caliber, though.

I like Brian Reed, I just meant I don't care for the doppelganger stuff.

This was the one thing about the issue I didn't like. Either Ms. Marvel is Marvel's Wonder Woman stand-in, or she's The Sentry's Supergirl stand-in. And while I understand that adding a new character as The Sentress would have just further complicated The Sentry's story, she can't be Captain Marvel's female counterpart and The Sentry's.
Then Harrison Oogar, the Caveman of Wall Street showed up, The Sentry fought a giant bear in a tutu, and Truman Capote was there. At that point, I stopped caring about all that petty little stuff.

Yeah, but where's the bondage? The femme fatales with lunch lady hairdos and fuck me hard daddy pumps? The dominatrix undertones?
Actually I have something of a soft spot for Brian Reed's Ms Marvel, namely being that I was a military brat and my old man was career Air Force.
I wasn't as crazy about his first part of the orgin arc as much as I thought I would be, but I think I'm going to pick up this last issue regardless.

I don't, though!
Seriously, the people I've dealt with in hollywood have been RIDICULOUSLY nice and fun to work with.
Yesterday, Isabelle watched " Double Date " with me for the first time and she was impressed.
I can't wait to see you get more opps in this field.

I just read WW#25 and I haven't read through the posts yet so apologies in advance for any repetition but;
I really loved this book.
Which is funny as I started off thinking a little critically of #25 (other than the truly amazing artwork by Bernard Chang of course) as Diana's internal dialogue was bothering me as a little clunky. For example her introduction to the Queen of Fables read to me as more like WWE than somebody’s innermost thoughts.
But the story rapidly developed into a fabulous ride through Wonder Woman mythos.
We visually had all the various Wonder Woman incarnations, even the JLU version and the story itself we must have had something for nearly every shade of Wonder Woman fan.
We had Diana as the Divine / Goddess / Angel.
Diana as a symbol of purity.
Diana as Warrior.
Diana's wry humour.
Diana’s insight and compassion.
Diana as inspiration.
Diana as a (potential) mother.
We even had Diana in bondage! (and overcoming it).
I really appreciate how Gail is revealing and reinforcing her vision of Diana issue by issue. Even if you don't agree with all of it it's good to learn Gail's Diana knows herself and stands behind her principles, without doubt of any kind.
In parody it’s reinforced here that Gail's Amazons aren't man hating stereotypes, this needed saying because of recent events (AA).
We also see Diana twice reinforce her willingness to kill when necessary, indeed she actually regrets she is not able to kill the Queen of Fables. Whatever you think about Diana killing it's good to see her being consistent about her position.
Gail again stresses Diana's warrior nature and her unmatched ability against multiple opponents. However, this is still something we still need to see proved against really powerful foes and spread across other DC books. Although to be fair The Queen of Fables almost took out the entire JLA by herself a few years back she’s still not an ‘A’ list DCU villain.
The last page I really liked. I've always thought Diana could be a mother one day, simply because it feels right for the character to me. I absolutely agree it's something she would consider, even if it never happens.
But since I was in a minority of about one last time I mentioned it I imagine this page will have caused a bit of controversy.
I've got to give another shout out to Bernard Chang who was unbelievable on every single page of this issue. His work has improved each time he's worked on Wonder Woman and I must say we have been particularly lucky with artists on the book for years now and the art goodness just keeps on coming.
Did I mention I love this book ?.
