OK... I have not read this issue. But reviews like this one (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2008/10/06/has-dc-sunk-this-low/) refer to it as "torture porn" and the page-by-page description given is... well... better not read it if you have a weak stomach.
Anyone here who's read it wanna weigh in on it?

fights leading up to his confrontation with Bane in the Knightfall story. It's just compressed into one issue which makes it seem a lot more brutal than it would if spread out over more. I was prepared for how it ended thanks to the solicits for upcoming issues. It still bugs me a bit when heroes fail but it did make for a very good Two-Face story.

I don't know what the hell they're talking about. Nightwing #149 had more blood in it than usual, but that's partly because it's scarecrow-poison that's making Dick's mind all confused. The death at the end wasn't particularly gory nor were the hallucinations all that horrific or "torture porn." Did we read the same issues? It's nowhere near the level of that terrible issue of Teen Titans from a month or two ago.

Yeah. I wasn't too shocked by any of it because I knew it was part of the hallucination of Scarecrow's fear toxin. Of course it was going to be nightmarish and gruesome. I was rather shocked that Nightwing did not save the woman, but I think it worked in the story. Also interested to see Two Face rather fighting himself and who hired him in the last pages.
Maybe if you just picked up this issue, it seems totally off. Yet that's your fault for jumping into the middle of a story.

Action-packed issue. Good read. I think that descriptor's unwarranted.

I have a question. During Tomasi's run Nightwing is dating someone new. Can someone tell me if that's the woman who died. Please.

Nope. Totally different 2-dimensional character.

Reviews like this make me go "thank CHRIST nobody reads 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine in the comic 'blogosphere'...".
Judge Dredd: Ratfink alone... :frown:

Nope. Totally different 2-dimensional character.
I spoke to Tomasi when I went to FallCon about her. He apparently has had much of a chance to develop her lately, especially with the crossovers going on. McDuffie also said he had three years worth of stories planned out that he hadn't gotten around to yet, though he didn't name any particular reason why he hadn't.
I blame it on editorial interference.

Fair enough. At this moment in time, she's extremely forgettable. I'm open to reading stories that flesh her out more.

Nightwing's new girlfriend is a Mets fan and a history geek. Clearly she is awesome.
