If there's one thing Bristol is exceptional for, it's the high level of sheer stupidity from our criminals.
A car thief who had his name and date of birth tattooed on his neck was caught after CCTV images of him were used to track him down.
Aarron Evans, 21, pleaded guilty at Bristol Magistrates' Court to breaking into a covert capture car in the city.
The car had been left by Avon and Somerset Police officers with a covert camera concealed inside, which took pictures of Evans.
Evans, an illiterate man of no fixed address, was sentenced to seven months.
Supt Ian Wylie said: "Criminals won't be tolerated in Bristol and we will keep catching them and bringing them before the courts.
"We get such excellent images from these cameras that there is often, and never more so than in this case, no doubt who the criminal is."

Be smarter to get a tattoo of the name of someone you don't like, really...

There would be a lot of people with "Rick Olney" tattooed on themselves then.....
You really want that?

They leave cars around so people will steal them?
Plus, you steal one of those, find the camera, you could sell that for some coin...

You get a car, put cams a few places (I understand that the dash air vents are popular), add a remote-control ignition cut-off and remote door-locks... wait for someone to decide to go for a joyride, then lock the doors and cut the ignition in front of the cruiser waiting a block away.
Repeat as needed.

There's even a cable TV series called "Bait Car" about catching would be car thieves. I forget which channel it's on - A&E or Tru or ID ... one of those.

The stupidest criminals I ever saw were three Canadians who, chained together for a court appearance, made a break for it with a TV crew taping the whole thing.
As police were escorting them from the van to the court entrance, the trio bolted down the side walk.
Two of them passed on the right side of a street sign.
Do I have to tell you which side the third one passed on?

I heard them play one of those tapes one the radio. One minute the thieves are like "Yeah! Let's go!!", the cops throw the cut-off switch and they're all "WHAT THE F*CK!!"
If you've ever had your car stolen, that is the sound of sweet justice.

Dumb crooks, crap fountains and opening an extremely expensive major new shopping centre right at the start of a recession. Those are the things my city is known for.
Sigh.

Repeat as needed. That both makes me pissed off, and makes me go "well, they were gonna steal a car anyway right?" at the same time.

Yes, I used "twock" in a sentence.

It's the cops that figure out what model car the thief is looking for. Thieves take certain cars for specific reasons.
Though why they took my POS minivan, I'll never know

Apparently people movers are popular with the druggie set, 'cause they can all sit in the back and get shitfaced. Before dumping and torching it.

The fountains are not too bad compared with the grim bleakness that was there before, but Cabot Circus is horrific & is a stain upon the city.
