Well the Final Crisis board has slown down. so i thought i'd ask some questions and start some discussions.
1. Seems like Grant indroduced us to the "cure" for the ALE in Superman Beyond The so called Universal Medicine. Anyone else think this will be used as Deus Ex Machina?
2. What other female superheroes/villians do you think will be a member of Darkseids new Female Furies? Furthermore who do you think is the leader? Mary Marvel or Wonder Woman.
3. Speaking of Mary Marvel, she seemed really chatty for a mindless slave to the ALE. If Countdown is taken into account she willingly took a portion of Darkseids power. You think she'll be redeemed at the end or will she stay bad?
4. How does Cain fit into FC, will he be a servent to Darkseid. He didn't seem to be affected by the ALE.
5. Who does Libra really work for? Mandrakk or Darkseid?

1. Seems like Grant indroduced us to the "cure" for the ALE in Superman Beyond The so called Universal Medicine. Anyone else think this will be used as Deus Ex Machina? The fact that this cure is introduced in the story means that by definition it cannot be used as a deus ex machina.
A deus ex machina is when the answer to everyone's problems suddenly pops in out of nowhere to resolve the story, like the gods stepping in. A modern version would be the Martians in War Of The Worlds catching a cold and dying off al of a sudden.
2. What other female superheroes/villians do you think will be a member of Darkseids new Female Furies? Furthermore who do you think is the leader? Mary Marvel or Wonder Woman.Their leader will be Granny Goodness. As to who will be in it? Your guess is as goodas anyones.
3. Speaking of Mary Marvel, she seemed really chatty for a mindless slave to the ALE. If Countdown is taken into account she willingly took a portion of Darkseids power. You think she'll be redeemed at the end or will she stay bad? She's as chatty as any of the old female furies. The ALE alters the mind altered, not removes it.
And she most likely will be redeemed, if for no other reason that Morrison isn't in the habit of ruining characters permanently. Unles editorial would like her to stay dark of course, for instance to give Black Adam a legacy character.
5. Who does Libra really work for? Mandrakk or Darkseid?Unknown at this point. Most likely Darkseid though. Mandrakk doesn't seem like the kind of thing to bother with puny mortals.

Here's a few questions how come they had to give wonder woman a virus version of the ale and everyone else just got a email...The virus given to Wonder Woman was not the Anti-Life Equation, but the morticockis or whatever it is called. It is that what has mutated her into a more powerful, monstrous form. She would have had the ALE administered verbally just like everybody else. The ALE is a meme, a philosophy (or lack of one), not a biological agent.
It's twofold domination plague: a biological virus that aughments and distorts the bodies of the infected, and the ALE, which is essentially a verbally transmitted virus that enslaves the mind. The ALE and morticocus combined deliver a superpowered, absolutely loyal army of millions of soldiers/parademons/furies. It's a brilliant scheme.

Mandrakk had nothing to do with Countdown. He was first mentioned in "Superman: Beyond", the 3D 2-issue mini that came out last month. Just do a Search here. There are several threads already started about him ...

I read it SLIGHTLY different, but along the same lines. I thought it was more hinted that the monitors are the readers, and Mandrakk is more or less whoever the writer (or person in charge) is who puts the DCU into jeopardy.
In other words, Mandrakk = Didio

A very evil Monitor the "Ultimate Destroyer of Life" or something. Solicitations for FC #6 seem to imply that he is the true threat of FC.

I mean who will be field leader. Like in the old furies, Granny was the leader over all, but Lashina ran them in the field.

Looks like Mary Marvel does.

No, it's meant to save Lois. Not the world. That will fall to Norman Shilo.

Well, looks like it is Wonder Woman.
3. Speaking of Mary Marvel, she seemed really chatty for a mindless slave to the ALE. If Countdown is taken into account she willingly took a portion of Darkseids power. You think she'll be redeemed at the end or will she stay bad?
She's not a mindless slave. Nor is the Anti-Life Equation what's wrong with her. The power of Black Adam tainted her soul and Darkseid gave her a portion of the power that was left over, when she cast it off before going to Apokolips.
4. How does Cain fit into FC, will he be a servent to Darkseid. He didn't seem to be affected by the ALE.
I think he's mostly for the Spectre to deal with. I doubt he'll be part of the final battle.
5. Who does Libra really work for? Mandrakk or Darkseid?
I'm guessing it is Darkseid.

quick question, were did the virus come from. from what i remember of Countdown (I've blocked most of it out) Karate Kid had it and it got out and created the Kamandi world.
How did Val get infected?
It was also used to kill Orion to i believe. Batman said he found traces of a virus in the bullet that killed him?

Black Adam got his powers back. I thought the power that Darkseid gave her was a portion of his soul or whatever and thats what really pushed her over the edge.

Batman used some term like 'deitoxic' or something that seemed to mean a substance that was harmful to gods specifically. I thought this meant a poison more than an infection, and Orion did not show the symptoms of Morticoccus, so I don't think it was the same thing.
I don't know how Karate Kid got the virus, or if Brainy knew he had it (when does Brainy not know everything, though?) when he arranged for Karate Kid to stay in the DCU present. I don't believe that has been addressed yet.

Created by Darkseid and probably the Evil Factory.

Unknown at this time.

What helped to kill Orion was a poison designed specificially to kill New Gods. The Morticoccus Virus is not it.

Not according to Darkseid himself.

That's why she looks like she did as Black Mary. Only now we've seen her adopt the Evil God look in "Final Crisis".

I don't think the stuff in the bullet is the same stuff Wonder Woman got a dose off. The stuff in the bullet is refered to as radon (aka New Gods kryptonite) and was about the size of a golf ball. The stuff Diana got hit with was a cloud of green microscopical whatevers.

Yeah, Radion is the "theotoxic" material of the bullet that John Stewart found and that Barry was chasing.
I don't know if Mary is really under the ALE, actually... I think she gave herself willingly to Darkseid to get her Black Adam-esque powers back, and that they were possibly corrupted already (rather than the slow corruption of Eclipso and from having that kind of power), and later she went through the Body Shop for more modifications. She may be under the ALE for added protection, but Libra's speech to Luthor in FC 3 at the Legion of Doom's HQ pretty flattly states that you can be a servant of Darkseid willingly, and Mary seems to be one of those.
As for Vandal/Cain, it IS most likely a Spectre thing... I also get the feeling that whatever happens in Revelations is nothing that would spoil the story of any of the other books (my theory, which is only that, is that the stuff Grant was writing got delayed, and the rest of the delays may have been to prevent anything in any of the other books from spoiling the main story. I could be wrong, but it seems odd that ALL the books, even the ones by other authors, got delayed individually. Again, just a theory)

The Morticoccus Virus is what Mary infected Diana with. A slightly different strain that isn't fatal, nor will it turn its victims into complete animals.

FC Revelation and Submit should hold me over for awhile
