I've been enjoying Batman RIP, although the last issue was somewhat less satisfying and I worry that the ending won't live up to the rest of the run. Endings are hard, and Morrison seems all over the place these days.

BUT, I am having trouble understanding how the tie-ins relate. (There may be another thread on this, but I couldn't find it and just transferred over here from Deadorama.)

The new Detective preview is confusing to me--that is the Joker in the cell next to Crane, right? He doesn't look or act anything like the Joker in RIP from the preview. I don't get it? If it's a RIP tie-in (sort of), what's the timeline here?

I'm having the same trouble as a new reader on Nightwing--is this before or after DJ Grayson is going to be lobotomized in RIP? Great issue, though, I never thought I'd consider paying cover price for Nightwing but I plan on picking up the next couple issues.

How is Detective, anyway? I've picked up a Dini issue here or there, but never cared to keep going even with cliffhangers and stuff.

I started picking up Morrison's run in trade so I'm not up to date in RIP, but I have been reading Detective monthly for a while now.

I believe it takes place before the action with Joker in RIP, at least I think I've read that elsewhere.

Anyhoo, I've enjoyed Dini's run. Some issues are stronger than others, and most of them are one-shots, which is unique for me.

That was some pretty severe torture stuff Bats was doing there!

In Nightwing #148, Two-Face references Dick's stay in Arkham. So, the Nighwing issues that loosely tie into R.I.P. supposedly take place after the events in Batman.

Thanks, 149 was the first issue for me in ages.

Does that mean, then, that DJ can be excluded from the list of potential replacements? I never figured him for the job, anyway, he has his own identity and book. I'm not even sure Bruce is going to be replaced at all.

According to Morrison, RIP precedes Final Crisis and Bruce is still Batman at the beginning of FC. Supposedly the big change happens later on in FC.
