I dunno about this, I just got a lite a couple of days ago.
Not sure why they're doing this with the lite still selling like crazy.

I like my DS just fine, I had a normal DS but then this zelda version came out of the ds lite and I got one and sold my old one on ebay for almost as much as this cost me when it came out.

The DS lite is thin enough as it is though, I dont think Id like this new one being 12% thinner. Not to mention it doesnt have a slot for my gameboy advance games. Camera and buying games online have no appeal to me though, larger screen is the only thing Id like but it cant be that much bigger.

Ooh. Looks pretty. So the DS is now looking like a cell phone (without the phone, of course).
I guess this may actually run up $175, at most, when released. Of course, not too many people took on the DS Browser, since it was, well, slow, but I'd like to see this one.
And perhaps replace my old, broken DS.

To expand market appeal before saturation causes the Lite's sales to peak and decline. While I'm sure it'll sell here, it's definitely aimed at the Japanese marketplace.

That's the price it's being released for in Japan. I'd bet on a 149.99 price point in North America.

Then, that makes some applications that require a GBA game in the slot in addition to the DS game useless.
Shouldn't this be the time when Nintendo should start working on the next portable system? I mean, they did say this wasn't the successor to the Game Boy franchise.
And, more likely than not, Tadhg, it would be around $150, yeah.

Looks cool but I'd rather get a DS Lite since it has the GBA slot, I might get the DSI eventually though.

Yeah, thats been the thing with the gameboys for awhile now. They release the original model, add a new feature or two for other versions, release each model in multiple colors over like a year and a couple limited editions and while its still selling well they make a new version because they know people will buy it.
I mean they have had the nintendo DS released in like 2004 and its still a huge seller simply by changing it every so often. This new revision will no doubt keep it going another year. Im sure the next gameboy to come out will be a totally new version resembling a iphone.

That's the only problem I see with it, actually. Backwards compatibility is becoming a big issue.

That's kind of cool. I'm at work now so I can't see the price, so whens the projected release date?

Battery life on it sucks though compared to the current ds lite.

And screen size appears to only apply to the top one and it looks like 1/8 inch at the most bigger.

Sounds like a premium version that's more optimized for casual gamers. Guess Nintendo wants to elbow Sony out of the market completely.

I got my fat DS the day it was released and I'm not upgrading for something worse than what I already have.
No GBA slot...just no.

I'm happy with my DS lite. Useless features on a game boy isn't enough to keep me interested.

Sucks that the DS doesn't play old game boy games. (pocket to color) I liked some of them. :frown:

The hell is the point of a VGA camera in a gaming device.... lame.

I suppose I'll just wait until X-Play or Attack of the Show tells me if I should trade in my DS lite for this.

Well, the DSi won't include the GBA port. Also, it seems the battery life will be shorter.

So then there's really no point in getting this unless you want useless features over No GBA port.

I was thinking kinda the same. MP3? I have an iPod. Camera? I'd have to see the resolution, but in any case, I already own a digital camera, so...

I'm fine with my DS Lite. Even though I don't play a lot of GBA games on it, I don't want to lose the option.
