Try Sea Change. It's depressing but quite powerful in places and a different sound from Beck.

I kinda-sorta met him several years ago. He came into the theatre I used to manage with Heather Graham. He's extremely quiet, she did most of the talking.
I really enjoy his music. I remember when Loser first hit, a friend of mine was able to identify a few different languages in it, I think Spanish and German, along with English and that, along with the layers of music and orchestration really won us over.

Those are my two favorites as well.
The Information is very good too.
Sea Change is very depressing, which is cool when you are in the mood for that. But I don't need any help being depressed.
Also, Beck was influenced by (among many others) Os Mutantes. You should look them up.

Beck's one of the rare modern artists who's worth listening to in full. All of his albums are very different from one other, and they're all worthwhile. He's my generation's David Bowie, only he hasn't started sucking yet.

I have to second that.
I have every album Hansen has put out so far, and in very different ways, they are all highly worthwhile.
If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be either, Mutations or Odelay.

If you're such a big fan how come you don't remember names of the records you own ? :)
The new one Modern Guilt is good. I also like Sea Changes, Mutations and One Foot in the Grave (which I heard is out of print).

Now, if I didn't know his last name I might have thought you were talking about someone else.

This is my kind of thread
Odelay is probably the one I listened to the most
but there's so many songs to choose from

I'm very much fond of Mutations. I keep digging it out constantly, and have often had some of it's cuts stuck in my head for ages afterwards.

I'll second the suggestion of Sea Change. It is depressing...and decidedly one dimentional, sonically speaking, for Beck but it's also full of very good songs. You should also try Mutations which came out after Odelay and like Sea Change has a somewhat acoustic vibe but because it's a bit more eclectic sounding it's actually a better album than Sea Change IMO.
Guero and Midnite Vultures are also worth checking out....especially if you like Odelay's sound. I have to say though, all of Beck's albums from Mellow Gold through to Guero are worth a listen. The Information was a bit of a let down in my opinion but his most recent album, Modern Guilt, is pretty good.
And now for a bit of a snark...

Too many albums to learn their names? Somehow, I doubt that. Try harder.
So, you actually have all of Beck's albums apart from One Foot In The Grave?
Errrr...why did you start this thread again????
