You're probably just gonna have to bite the bullet and call MS. It should be covered by warranty.

Just try and send it back for repair/replacement and be done with it, Ive seen it happen way to many times and not have a home do it yourself fix.

No wonder gamestop stopped selling extended warranties on 360's, they still have the old RROD problem out the wazzu.

No, its because Microsoft already is giving a 3 year warranty.

IS the warranty still good? I thought it was only 1 year. I bought it 2 months after they first came out. SO that would be Jan of what? 05?

Call them and find out.

The warranty should still be good as long as you didn't tamper with it. For instance I know four people who bought the cooling system by Interact and as a result of using that device their warranty was voided. Don't ask me how but Microsoft knows whether or not a colling system was used.

'Aye. I think they've shifted around the return policy since I did it a few months ago, but it's still not that big a hassle. They sent me a box to send it back in, but when my friend had it happen for the second time a few weeks ago, they told him he'd have to supply the box himself.

But for a temp fix before you send it back, yeah, the towel trick works.
