Are there any collected works of old batman detective comics out there. I am looking for the original stuff, like from the thirties.

As much as I know, the Batman Archives hardcovers reprint the original run of Detectives up to volume 7, around issue #154. High quality stuff. Judging by the prices on Amazon, the first book is pretty hard to find. They're usually around $50.

But that's where the Batman Chronicles are good. There are only a few out I think, but they're softcover reprints, only around $15 or so, and they also start from DC #27. I got the first one months ago but I still haven't gotten around to completing it.

To elaborate, Batman Chronicles reprints ALL those old stories, in chronological order, no matter what title they appeared in originally.

they really need to collect some Gene Colan and Don Newton Detective issues from the 80's. Like the Adams collections except in softcover, non gloss paper and ORIGINAL COLOURS, goddamn

You can find some, including my favorite Batman comic "Night of the Stalker", in the collection "Batman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told".
