What??? Didn't she sing Genie in a Bottle? I don't care if her singing blows in real life, I have no idea. But if so, at least production did a crazy good job making it sound awesome.

Wow, googling up Nasal Spears to see if anyone shared my aversion I found this excerpt:

Maury Dean, author of Rock-N-Roll Gold Rush (2003) documented that Spears has an alto vocal range.[159] Rami Yacoub, who co-produced Spears's debut album with its songwriter and lyricist Max Martin, commented, "I know from Denniz Pop and Max's previous productions, when we do songs, there's kind of a nasal thing. With N' Sync and the Backstreet Boys, we had to push for that mid-nasal voice. When Britney did that, she got this kind of raspy, sexy voice".[23] Following the release of her debut album, Chuck Taylor of Billboard observed, "Spears has become a consummate performer, with snappy dance moves, a clearly real-albeit young-and funkdified voice..."(You Drive Me) Crazy," her third single...demonstrates Spears's own development, proving that the 17-year-old is finding her own vocal personality after so many months of steadfast practice".[160] Spears later commented, "With [...Baby One More Time], I didn't get to show my voice off. The songs were great, but they weren't very challenging.

Ah! I knew producers from the late 90s did that nasal crap on purpose. BSB, NSynch, Eminem, Britney all the commercial gimmick fake bands from the late 90s had horrid nasal singers. It sells!!! :frown:

Best thread ever!

I thought Brit's singles from her Blackout album went gold/platinum? I did think "Break the Ice" and "Gimmie More" were damn catchy. "Overprotected" sucked, "Radar" was ordinary, but "Ice" and "More" gets thumbs up from me.

However, I heard "Womanizer" on the radio for the first time today, and, well, guess Britney's back to churning out doo-doo. Is her new album called "Metamucil"? I wouldn't even illegally download it ONCE. Then again, maybe like her last album its just the first single that sucks and it'll get better? Wait and see I guess.

I didn't know Christina had a new single out. I'm curious to hear it now. She seems more ecclectic and versatile than Britney, both musically and vocally, though it seems Britney's future might be club music, which is fine.

Britney's first singles don't always reflect the quality of the album. For example, "In The Zone" was a lot better album that its first single, "Me Against the Music". Best to take a "wait and see" approach.

I said this elsewhere...If I ignored everyone who dissed Axl Rose I'd be alone on CBR by now. I don't...I accept he's not for everyone but I will defend my love of Guns n Roses.

Because rock's real music blah blah blah.

Hmmm maybe....

Of course my respect for Justin Timberlake (and I used to blast the dude a lot) grew when he did a spot on SNL , playing the panio and doing his song. I was like... wow that is pretty good. He's obviously moved to the point where he doesn't need to dance all around and sing "insert generic song here" .

Britney never changed. She had her moment in 1999-2001. But she never grew ...never changed. Even Christina A. changed and grew. I don't like her music ...but she at least made a change.

He has...produced music....(album likely out Nov.25th at Best Buy). I think its crazy to claim that basically everyone has came down on Rose for everything under the sun. I accept it... he ran off the old band , he wanted all the money ....he is crazy ....he will never produce an album....

The differance is Axl has performed (2006-2007 world tour) ....and got himself into shape after a disastours 2002 tour. It went to hell bad for him then. He admitted he was outta shape and not really wanting to play ! But he felt pressured to tour and the result was what we saw.

His 2006-2007 tour was him attempting to show he could play and did every show (except for the 1 canceled for not selling alcohal) . Axl Rose could have said FUCK IT ...and not really wanna do anything anymore after the horrible 2002 tour. But he rebounded , did a good tour and showed a lot of fire was there at age 44.

Years ago Rose was a crazy son of a bitch. He drank , smoked never took care of himself. Sebastian Bach told him of a throat doctor to help his vocal cords stay strong. He said Rose had changed a lot from the young guy he was and wanted to take care of himself...and be able to perform.

When CD gets released....well that will be great. Its due November 25th at Best Buy. So should be fun to hear and see whats on the album.

I agree ....to a point. I think change is a part of the music. I could see why Rose wanted to change. The leaks sound impressive when you consider 90% of it is Rose who wrote them. Its so easy for him to wanna do "Paradise City" 2k8 but he didn't. He changed some shit up...

I never imagined a day when a song like "If the World" would be done by Guns n Roses. But it has...and its gonna be on the "Body of Lies" soundtrack I suppose. Its playing at the end of the credits....

I miss Slash a lot. Guy was fucking awesome with Axl and maybe one day their paths will cross and we'll see both men re-unite. Guns n Roses is due to enter the Rock Hall of Fame in 2012...so maybe by then Rose and the old members will have settled down.

I think that we wouldn't be seeing "Shackler's Revenge" or songs on soundtracks if it wasn't for Rose biting the bullet and getting the former manager of Velvet Revolver (Azoff) and another manager to actually make shit happen. If anything maybe it was part of the problem as well with "The Axl Rose and his Guns n Roses" band for the longest time.

You need a manager who knows the business and can push shit thru. Last year its said the record label told Rose his current manager and plan (13 Tuesdays suprise release) was fucking stupied and to fire him. Rose... eventually did it finally. Even thoough the guy had been his manager for years.

Its gotta come down to having someone who is a good manager and can make deals ...knows the business . Like Azoff who in 5 months got the label and shit straightened out it seems.

And the manager thing comes back around to Britney Spears. It was said she fired her 1st manager a few years back. Maybe that was a mistake and the current manager she has isn't working as well. Maybe thats a problem at the moment for her.

I know even the Beatles claimed in later years that as good a guy as Brian Epstein was ...he wasn't that smart towards business. His deals as their manager hurt them. So even great bands can suffer from some mistakes management wise.
