This wont be the last of him, a person that insanely obsessed with something as he has obviously been for years now will give up. I mean the public tantrums, the series of useless lawsuits, the name calling and idiotic claims he makes shows he is obviously not quite all there so he wont let this drop. Probablly dissapear for a bit but he will be back in some form or another.
I was never against him for doing what he thought was right, but just the completely childish manner he did these things just made me dislike him personally and not what he was standing for, even though every claim he made I was against because things like rap music from back in the days he was against it to video game violence were all false in my opinion.
If nothing else his antics probablly helped violent video game lobies not get taken seriously since he turned everything into a circus no one took him serious. So atleast acting like a buffoun did help us gamers in some form. His arguments in court might as well have been throwing his own feces at the jury.

I find Jack Thompson as abrasive as anyone else but I don't think he did anything worthy of being disbarred from a legal point of view. That said it drove me nuts when Take Two paid him a considerable amount of money to shut up. On that day it felt like he won.:frown:

Seriously?
The man has used his status to harass and slander tons of people and companies. He files BS lawsuits, and takes advantage of his position to force his propaganda down other people's throats.
He totally deserves what he got.

Truth is an absolute defense to slander and libel. So long as you can back up what you say than you are not defaming a person using the written wore (libel) or talking about them negatively. (Slander)
I know what you are thinking, how can Jack saying something idiotic like games are murder simulators not be considered slander. Well Jack would argue that it’s the truth based on how the Army trains its solider and how certain studies have linked playing video games to violent behavior.
So as much as I hate Jack, and I do hate him, he used his knowlege of the law to avoid breaking the word of it but IMO he broke the spirt of it.

Who still cares about this guy? He's obviously never been in any real position to do any harm, and the joke's long since stopped being funny.

Jack has done plenty of harm. Even if you discount all the legislation that he helped drafted, most of which thankfully were ruled unconstitutional, he's had a chilling effect of video games. There is a reason why video game companies are so reluctant to release mature games despite that fact that we're all adults who want mature rated games among other choices. That reason is Jack Thompson, Hilleary Clinton and Hot Coffee.

Reluctant to release mature games? As usual, what are you talking about? I watched a RIDICULOUS trailer just this morning for a Brothers in Arms World War II game that was focused solely on the fact that you can make Nazis heads explode via bullets. He's done NOTHING to public perception of games, because the only people that EVER gave a crap about what he had to say were gamers getting all huffy over his little crusade.

I was talking about number of mature games when compared to those that are not mature.

And again, what are you talking about? Where is your evidence of this? Because any cursory glance at sales charts and game stores disproves your "M rated games have gotten rare" hypothesis. Are there more T and E rated games? Most likely, because those are still going to be the major family sellers, but you're living in some blinkered fantasy world if you really think Jack Thompson managed to do anything other than look the fool.

Oh the laughter. Penny Arcade:
We were on vacation when it happened so I didn't get a chance to mention it but, Jack Thompson was disbarred on my birthday. Oh Jack, you didn't have to get me anything.
