Y'know, we have some pretty heated debates around here. How 'bout a discussion of much less seriousness, but arguably just as much significance?
Let's hear your arguments, preferably with photo reference. Who's got the best hair in rock 'n' roll?

Wayne Static of Static X. Don't need no arguments, just check out the photos.

Aarrgghh! I wish I knew how to submit images larger than thumbnails. My computer technical knowhow is a decimal point higher than zilch.

When I was a small kid, I really liked Chuck Berry's hair, and his whole look. I wanted to look like him when I grew up.

For the record, Al Hirschfeld is never wrong:

This might seem like an odd nomination on the face of it, but this was a pretty damn influential haircut for the era:

That was pretty cool, I haveta say. Even in the glam era, it really stood out.
I hate to admit it, but I always wanted hair like this dude. Ya see, there was this girl and she like him and I wanted her to like me. Your average 12-year-old thing.

Devin Townsend rocks it, male-pattern style. I like that he doesn't give up and shave it.

Also, I always thought Johnny struck just the right chord between utilitarian and cool with the jet black slick-back. Somehow, his is cooler than Elvis's.

What's the name of that one guitar player that looks like a wizard (he's not in ZZ Top)? He was pretty big in the 70s and 80s I think.

Then you're thinking of Leon Russell ... more a pianist than a guitar hero, but possessor of one of the all-time great beards of rock & roll.

http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/4175/sladedavehill01pr7.jpgSo that's where all those rockabilly chicks get their inspiration.
I like the long hair from the early 70s precisely because it was just guys growin their hair long, as opposed to the elaborate do's of the 80s and onwards, the perms, the highlights, etc, etc. Obviously that meant you got some pretty weird looking hair, but I'll take the guys in Slade any day over the ridiculous stylings of the metal bands that came later.
Same goes for a lot of the music, now I think of it.

Ah, ya got me. I was thinkin more of the metal bands, Purple and Zeppelin and so on, as compared to the hair-metal of the 80s. Forgot about the whole glitter-rock thing. But at least the glitter-rock was boundary-breaking and innovative when it happened.
