The mysterious Miss Locke: Do we ever learn her backstory? She is the assistant of madman Arcade yet we never learn WHY she would aid him in his mad schemes.
This is her on the right:

Who is she really? How did she get tied in with Arcade? Is Locke really her last name? And why did she want to kill Arcade in Uncanny X-Men #197? I wonder about Miss Locke and if she was just a throwaway sidekick, or if more was ever planned with her??

Piffle. Death in a comic book is like a sick day in the real world. Yeah, you're gone, but you'll be back.
I love Miss Locke. But I like all of Claremont's "highly competent and dressed in fetish wear" women. I'd love to see Miss Locke and Sage take on the women of the Hellfire Club and Viper while Tyger Tyger and Karma have cocktails.

Didn't she turn out to be a robot? I have vague memories of reading in some story arc, several years ago, that she wasn't human. Or I may be totally off about that. I can't remember what title I read that in, or exactly what year.

Uncanny #197 was supposed to be a game Arcade played, where once a year, he'd let her try and kill him within Murderworld.
I think it was implied if she pulled it off, she'd inherit the place, as well as his fortune, but I'm not sure. I haven't read that book in awhile.
If not, it was just a twisted job perk. Which is still fun.

I think this was from the Wolverine/Gambit: Victims limited series. Arcade was teamed with Mastermind Martinique (which I think was her first app.) and it was revealed that Miss Locke had been killed, maybe accidentally by Arcade, and the Miss Locke in this limited series was a robot.

Miss Locke is as much a psychopath as her boss. Miss Locke has an arrangement with Arcade. Once a year she is allowed to try and kill him. In return she is devoted to the guy the rest of the year.

They cut Kitty's scolding of Lockheed short before she laid into him with racial slurs.

Miss Locke was a cool character, and those early issues of Excalibur are gold. When I go to Chicago I will try to find the english edition or maybe a hardcover if there is any...
She was killed during the 90´ along with a lot of cool characters and concepts deemed "uncool" or no realist enough, like Vampires, New Roma, the Hellions, half of Excalibur characters...

The Hellions! <3
Yeah, this thread many makes miss Alan Davis' art of the past (because it's lost a lot of quality with his later and more recent X-runs).

Yeah i seem to recall an Arcade story with just Colossus and Meggan in Paris. Miss Locke was a robot but even the robot Miss Locke seemed to hate Arcade. It's almost like Arcade programmed her to hate him so that life would be a little more interesting.

Hm.. cant Arcade just re-create her? It would make an interesting storyline. Or if he created her to symbolize maybe an ex-girlfriend that dumped him or something. She should have some form of backstory to her creation. Hmm... im just letting my mind wonder of lol

While I don't disagree, the catch to Arcade has been that he's like the X-Men's equivalent of the Joker from Batman. A murderous clown whose true origins remain a mystery.
The supposed origin Arcade gave for himself, he's told a few times, and he's given different takes on it. (Which means he's either lying each time, like the Joker, or it's just really sloppy editing.)
As far as the origin of his partnership/relationship/employ of Ms. Locke... well, who knows where she came from? Has she always been a robot? Could the real Ms. Locke still alive somewhere, housed by Arcade?
All around, she's as enigmatic as her boss, though.

I really don't like this idea Miss Locke is a robot. I wish the 1990s had not done this to her. (Admittedly, it makes sense, since Arcade creates robots all the time!) My theory is that Miss Locke likely walked out on Arcade, and Arcade was so heart-broken over losing his partner he created a robot to replace her.
I admit, I rather like Arcade being the X-Men's Joker. A good writer could write a pretty deranged Arcade that we've never seen before. Arcade has always been eccentric, but I'd like to see him really go over the edge, into pure madness. (With the X-Men stuck in the middle!)

That's what I think as well! I think she could possibly be the Marvel's twist of DC's Harley Quinn (i think that's her name) the infamous sidekick of Joker. ...

He killed her during Victims mini-series, where she slashed his face and he accidentally killed her. But then Arcade's scars and insanity have been forgotten so yeh, bring the bitch back.
As long as it doesn't involve time travel or alternate realities they might as well bring Miss Locke back. If she does pop back up someone could finally explain just what the deal is with both her and Mr. Chambers. Can you really make a career out of being a hired underling for Arcade?

Well they showed one as a robot.
But Arcade was a master at making Robots that were believably human, so was the robot Locke the real one?
