Hi guys, I'm kinda new here but something has been bugging me for a few days now. I know it was over 4 years ago that the first HB movie was released and I haven't read any of the books or comics (yes, I am a complete noob.) You all should probably laugh in my face for this but does anyone know what will kill Hellboy? Email me or post a reply and lemme know, please!! Thank you all so much!

A head shot, or something divine in nature, is my best guess. He's had his blood drained and heart taken out, and still kept fighting. Technically right now he's as close to being undead as it gets.

Judging by what's been happening in the comics and some interviews with Mignola I've read, I'd say that Hellboy is going to die, but there's been no real indication of how he'll die.
If you mean what can kill him, well, that's another question. He was drained of his blood and was dead (kinda???) during the "The Island" arc (he survived because of an intervention from some sweet mystical dudes). If you're talking about movie Hellboy, he nearly died in the second film because of a magical spear-head.
Hellboy isn't a superhero book where he's got an allergy to the color yellow or different types of Kryptonite will hurt him in different ways. I'd say that stuff that'd be lethal for most everyone can kill him, but there's no plot device in the books that'll kill him.
Nobody's gonna bite your head off for being a "noob" here. Welcome to the Hellboard!

I'm guessing he dies when the rest of the planet does due to global warming.
Either that or he drinks anti-freeze. That's how my dog died... not that Helboy is a dog, but the stuff looks damn good.

In the comics, Hellboy appears to be beyond death, at least as far as regular mortals experience it. What exactly has rendered him beyond death's grasp - supernatural intervention, the Right Hand of Doom, his lineage, destiny, and so on - remains a mystery.
My suspicion is that the only thing that can kill Hellboy is Hellboy, i.e., if/when he does "die" it will be cause he essentially sacrifices himself (gives up his lifeforce) for some (greater) purpose. This puts him right in the framework of a lot of mythic heroes and reconfigures his "death" not as a regular mortal death (because we know there is an afterlife (or maybe many afterlives) in the Hellboy milieu) but as a stronger transformation from one state of being to another where identity is fundamentally changed (as opposed to the idea that who you are in the afterlife is pretty much similar to who you were in life).

That is so wrong:evilsmile: . The first thing that popped into my head was either you are serious and I am going to Hell for laughing or that statement is funnier than a hotdog full of fishing hooks! Just to be on the "safe" side I am sorry to hear about your dog...but you are right antifreeze looks very tasty.

Hellgirl: are you asking about the scene in the first movie when Hellboy visits Liz and Hellboy says to Meyers: "you know what'll kill me don't ya"? and then he looks over at Liz?

You're not suggesting like a bong here, are you?
EDIT: PaddyN's suggestion I find intrigue-ing (spelling blank - sorry). Anyone for answering Movie Hellboy specificly?

It's okay. He died knowing something that I myself will never know. He was better for it.
Plus, he didn't have to drink it. I gave him the choice between it and water.

The only things that will kill HB are Mike Mignola and Guillermo Del Toro. And poor box office reciepts
In Darkness Calls, there was the whole fight with Koschei, who couldn't be killed, and HB actually DID defeat him. Then that one supernatural duder said 'Hellboy is as deathless as Koschei. His life must be given, it cannot be taken.'
Which goes to what was said earlier that it will most likely be a willing sacrifice.

Good answer. I forgot about that quote until now.

Yes. *hangs head in shame* I watched it for like the hundreth time yesterday and thought I'd do something to find out. He looks over at Liz? Never noticed that.

Still quite an interesting and mainly DIFFICULT question. In the sense of: could or should an answer be pondered on?
Were I allowed to speak freely, I would say that Movie Hellboy's end would be: losing the battle for 'choosing his own destiny'.
Meaning losing the battle to a) not bring about Armageddon as was his initial purpose and b) by losing all the ones he cares for,
enough to (initially) not wish a world's end.
That would be my take on GDT's take on the end of Mignola's Hellboy.
This of course is just my stupid talk. For knowing the answer we will simply have to be allowed to watch the actual ending and endings for ourselves...

There's no need to hang your head in shame!
Or if there is, I'll be hanging my head too, cause I'm in the same boat as you, I've always wondered what he meant by that statement as well...
I'm sorry that I don't have a response for you, but maybe someone else knows? Or is it supposed to be vague...
Also, I thought he looked over at Liz, but now I'm doubting myself... It's been a while since I saw the movie. I've got to watch it again.

Remove the hand and you can kill him, is my guess. The right hand of the Watcher that formed the Ogdru Jahad and put the vril/fire energy into them, and brought Thoth's statue to life is what I assume is also keeping Hellboy "deathless". Without the right hand Hellboy may be just as mortal as any of us.
Then again, Liz could probably barbecue his a$$ if'n she wanted.....

Actually, Hand of Doom or not, I think Hellboy is pretty much immortal, well in terms of natural lifespan. I mean, he is a full blooded demon/devil, right? A seat of royalty in Hell and all that. Technically, he should be on the same level of Astaroth, no? Its probably his humanity that holds him back from accessing his demon-ness.
I've always assumed only Hellboy can kill Hellboy. Like being stabbed with his horns or summat. 'Course I also forgot about that quote mattman brought up...

TB...
Trevor Bruttenholm?
tuberculosis?
so confused....
p.s. The Macoma storyline also gives strong indications that Hellboy will survive the entire material universe. So I would also argue that only Hellboy can allow himself to die.

Never Broom!
Although I don't like to think about it, (and really, it is a tad morbid:wink:  ) my guess would be that once his destiny kicks in, Hellboy would make the choice to kill himself knowing that he didn't want to bring along the end of the world.

The problem is that hellboy can't simply die. The hand of doom must be destroyed...

I don't know if the hand can be destroyed either. It is the embodiment of something much greater. It is the key to an entire plane of existance that has been sealed off from our universe. It might be like trying to get rid of one of the laws of phsyics.... Its destruction would destroy everything else that rests on top of it.
But that is just my thoughts....
So, HellBoyOne! Who is TB?

I think he is just having fun with initials. I'm pretty sure he meant tuberculosis. Doubtfully serious.

The large hadron collider should probably kill hellboy... either that or nothing will.
That is an interesting Internet handle. Is there a story to the nuber of R's? Just curious. I'd forget the number and be unable to log in.
