For anyone who didn't read the first two crises, Zero Hour, or some of Grant Morrison's stories which are now being referenced, over at ComicMix.com I've just posted an article that gives a general summary/rundown of the events that have led us into FINAL CRISIS #1.

It's pretty short and sweet compared to other rundowns. Hopefully for some, this article will be helpful.

Im going to check this out. I'm curious how Zero Hour had anything to do with it.

Good job.

A few things:

1. I would like more elaboration on how Infinite Crisis reflected the conflict between old school and newer readers, and how the "darkness" in the story was a metatextual reference to the stories of the 90's. Also mention the point of the story.

2. Identity Crisis? I think that's worth mentioning in there, since it ties into Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis

3. I would also like to see which authors wrote what.

I found the site below which is useful for specifying what books cover the whole crisis run from Infinite Earths to Infinite Crisis. It's a nice site as it allows you to select an option from 'Everything', 'Important Tie-Ins', 'Only the Essential' or 'Major crises' and it will then list all the books for that selection in order. You can view the list by just titles or with information as well. Good page. I may use this in conjunction with your write-up in order to fill in all the gaps for myself.

Poor Supergirl, ignored again. But her death in COIE was kinda meaningless, tis true, no matter how touching.

Well, requests can't really be taken since the article is posted already. This isn't a blog, it's a news site with staff writers including myself. AS for the metatextual reference, that was, by definition, outside fo the story and the editors and I decided to focus this article on the story since the metatexual substance has been spoken about in many other articles on many other sites.

Identity Crisis we decided not to get into for a variety of reasons. The major tie it had to Infinite Crisis was that the heroes were no longer trusting each other, which was already mentioned in the article. Also, we wanted to focus on stories that were specifically universal crises since that was, again, the focus.

As explained in the article, we were deliberately not getting into what history changes/retcons occurred because those are covered extensively in various other web-sites and we wanted this to be a bare-bones rundown of the story itself not what existed outside of the pages. I loved Kara's sacrifice, but in the end there was no way to talk about it without getting into the retcons and also, ias you say, it didn't have an effect on the rest of the story really except that it was a loss to Superman and an inspiration to Dr. Light. Good character moments, but not really having to do with the overall arc. Hell, Marv Wolfman only killed her because DC wanted her gone.

Note to DC, if the fans cant follow it and you have to rewrite it all every ten years YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG !!!!!

Thanks very much for this. I have been away from the DCU for quite some time and only recently started trying to figure out WTF has been going on all these years. I picked up a couple of trades but still couldn't quite get a handle on the continuity. This definitely helped put things into perspective and I think I can actually enjoy Final Crisis at this point. Much appreciated!!
