I have a book that I picked up called Nazis and the Occult. Insiteful book that refrences war intellegence as well as so called occult specialist like Alister Crowley.I pu it as off topic due to it not really dealing with Hellboy directly. Anyways I have read it and although it was a good read I would like to pass it along. If you are interested just PM me and be sure to add a ship to address and it is yours.

Wow, sweet deal siamese! I bet there'll be those a tad more closeby to your place (which sounds swell btw) 'though.
Could you perhaps list the full title for reference? It sounds way interesting an not too OT by any means, I'd say (the thread is called OT so then it's allowed, not?)

I posted it as OT because it has no refrence to Hellboy directly even though the whole idea of German and according to the book the Allies using occult to help win the war is in line with HB. As far as teh title that is it; I will however check for isbn and author for you when I get home. It is fairly thick and hardback. The book goes into details on far fetched ideas such as the search for the spear of destiny to the more realistic use of soldiers carving runes on their weapons for protection. The last bit I know for sure is real due to taking in a pair of swords from the war as trade in on some stuff I was trading years ago. Side note I got rid of the swords ( bad vibes) and financed my true addiction ( comics) with the funds.

Wow, sounds like an interesting read. The bad vibes in the swords I can imagine. On the other hand the whole real-time National-Socialism day-and-age had a thing for imagery. In art, known here as 'realism' and 'constructivism' (like putting able-bodied working-class into art depictions).
Also, old German military looks have quite an understanding of powerful imagery to them: the black, the insignia - ripped off of just about every other warfarers of yore, be it Celts, Romans or Vikings.
Or the succesful aeroplane called Junkers Stuka: with almost bat-like features and a siren on it to scare the enemy (right before dropping either 1 bomb or 5 adding up to 500 kilograms ).
To say nazis will have understood the power of fear / image / myth yet with desecrating or violating the latter nonetheless. I suppose they will have liked to loot artifacts as well, whether they believed in them or not.
I hope everyone sees how there is no politics in these posts; only history, art and imagery!!
