First and foremost, welcome to Make Me a Superhero! This will be a weekly challenge of sorts. In which all posters are welcomed to post a design for the challenge. There really aren’t all that many rules for this thread.

- The picture of your design should be cropped to 550x800.
- Criticisms are welcomed, but in a polite and civil way. We don’t want to put anyone down, but help to improve their work.
- On every other Wednesday I will post the challenge. If you are interested in participating in the challenge of question, post the picture (via photobucket, imageshack, etc.) and a brief description of the characters back story, powers, and how your character ties into the challenge. You have until 11:59 p.m (CST) on Sunday to post your entry.
- That following Monday, I will post a voting thread, in which everyone is free to vote for which character they liked the most.
- The winner of that challenge get’s to choose the next challenge.
- After a competitor has entered their entry, please pm me with your idea for the next challenge, before the voting period ends.
(PMing right after submitting work is most helpful)
- Once again this is just a friendly design contest. So no eliminations. Furthermore, there is no commitment involved with Make Me a Superhero. So if you feel like playing one week and not the next, which is perfectly fine.

And to end it off… have fun!

Challenge: For your eighth challenge, Affinity invites you to design a SUPERHERO SOCCER MOM (or dad!) inspired by a domestic household item! Kitchen appliances welcome! Fortune 500 Tycoons need not apply!

Once again, I will be taking charge of this contest until pryde comes back.

Codename: Whip It!
Real Name: Jenna Wasp

Bio: Jenna Wasp was your average mother. Take the kids to school, clean the house, picks the kids up from school, drive the kids to soccer practice, make dinner, pick the kids up from soccer practice, serve dinner, clean up, help kids with homework, get kids ready for bed, tuck kids in bed, clean up, have a glass of wine before bed, fall asleep, and repeat. It's not that Jenna hated her life... she just wanted more.

It wasn't until Jenna had an unfortunate accident when whisking that she realized what she could do. The accident left her with super awesome tornado powers! And so, she made a costume and spun her way to superheroine greatness! By day she's a simple housewife, and by night she's saving the world!

Powers: Whip It! can spin her body at high velocities rendering herself virtually invulnerable to harm.

Inspiration: I chose the whisk as my household item and went from there. I decided to make a superhero mom that needed something more to life. Something that made her feel sexy. Hence the low cut top. The mask is to conceal her identity and protect her family, of course.

Maggie Mineola

Just your average house wife, making up a quick meal for her son's soccer team after losing the state championship . But oh noes, she forgot to take the alluminum foil off the baked potatoes from yesterday when she put them in the microwave. You know what that means, it sparkled and then exlpoded.
Now she has the powers to generate intense heat, in focused beams at will.
Yes she shoots the beams at her husband will from time to time to settle an argument, and also changes the channel on the TV...without the remote.
In other news, Will no longer has any fish swimming down there.
But she also uses her powers to fight crime.
She can become invisible herself, when she radiates extra hot. but only for as long as it takes to pop a bag of popcorn.

Codename: Vortex
Real Name: Tracy Sims
Superhuman Powers: The ability to psionically generate powerful vortexes and vacuums, and rapidly drop the temperature of a surrounding area in order to create a flash freeze. She also has the uncanny ability to defy father time and reserve her youthful beauty while at the age of 44! She also has the legendary power of "mother's instinct", and also shares a potent telepathic rapport with her children. Finally her last extraordinary power is the power of an increased sense of intuition. This heightened intuition alerts of her danger, cheating boyfriends, one of her children in distress, bill collectors, or a potential threat.

My superhero "soccermom" is actually my real mother, created into a superhero. She's not exactly what you'd call a "soccermom", because she's not that stereotypical mother type that is just full of joy, joy, joy, and just loves cooking and smiling all the time. She's more of the feisty kind of mama who doesn't take any bullsh*t from anyone. I love it!! She's like a mama lioness or something! Or like those mother crocodiles who are very defensive of their young. I love my mama!!

Ok so anyways her powers are based off of a vacuum cleaner and a refridgerator. I could necessarily put a huge vacuum bag on her, so instead I put those little tubing parts that you find on the vacuum hose around her knees and elbows. I talked with my mom a lot during this design, because I wanted her to be apart of it since it was her I was designing the costume for. So it had to be something to her standards, and something that she liked. She said she wanted some wrestling boots with her costume, which I thought was hilarious. So I designed some fashionable wrestling boots for her, with a bit of wedge. My mom is fierce, so she had to have a fierce costume to accent that ferocity she has.

Lin Qiao, Dragonhand of Kung-Fu

http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/tylerragan/Dragonhand.jpg

Origin:

Lin Qiao, one time top assassiin for the Triad in Asia - now retired homemaker and soccer mom. Raised from an infant by the Triad in China to master the secret Dragonhand technique of kung-fu, Lin was for a short time the Triad's top assassin, until one assignment caused her to see the wrongness of her actions, causing her to turn away from her role of assassin. Faking her death, she made her way to the states to begin a new life for herself. Starting over, she met Dr Stan Smith, fell in love, got married, and had three children. Life was good....until Lin got involved in the notorious world of the soccer mom!

Lin is a big soccer fan, and all three of her children are avid and skilled soccer players. Lin would enthusiastically show her support to her children's teams by providing them treats. However, Lin was never too good of a cook. As a matter of fact, she usually burned anything she tried to bake...until she discovered a new way to apply her dragonhand technique to bake treats right there at the soccer field. In order to control her cooking technique, she needs to use oven mitts to control the flames produced from her hands while she baked. She became the start attraction and idol of all kids on the soccer field.

However, her kindness and treats were not adored by all. The other soccer moms from the rival soccer teams soon became jealous of Lin Qiao, conspiring to take her down at any cost! Soon Lin Qiao found herself facing off with the other soccer moms, one by one......Betsy Crocker, Aunt Gemima, General Mills, Miss Kebler....defeating all through her training as the one and only Dragonhand, Soccer mom of justice!

Powers:

Lin Qiao is a master of kung-fu, and has specialized in the dragonhand technique, which allows her to produce flames from her hands.

Inspiration:

I was working up a different character for this challenge, when I haphazardly drew a burning oven mitt on this character and found myself with a different idea for my design. So I re-invented my chracter and came up with Dragonhand. The backstory itself was inspired by Ranma 1/2 and Scott Pilgrim.

Few enough to give a synopsis.

Whip It - Ankale Ra
Nice and sleek, cool design, clearly showing the utensil inpiration. Pretty classic look, nice back ground story.

Vortex - Shade101
This is a strong design and great illustration. And the Inspiration is just touching.
By the way, your mother wears wrestling boots...LOL

Dragonhand of Kung Fu - EscapeGoat
The oven mits, I thought about incorporating them too. It's a nice Kill Bill meets Iron Fist vibe for me, as always very creative and great presentation.

Microwave Mom - Your Imaginary Pal
Pretty amusing, but a little sloppy, it hasn't been proven yet, but you can do better. Nice story and interesting background and composition.

Affinity...loses points for coming up with the topic and not submitting...

Omg I suck at inking. The lines always end up too jagged or thick or too thin. Inking is the hardest part I think!

Congrats Shade101, you've won this challenge! Seems quite appropriate for my baby's momma to win the mom challenge. I'm so proud.

Next challenge up in a jiffy!
