So i've been out of the game for a while and I need to catch up.

BPRD TPB, I ordered 7 and 8, so that's cool.

My question: Is Volume 9 out, i.e., is Volume 9 that 1946 collection??? I have no idea and I am confused.

Help a Hellboy fan out!

Thanks in advance.

And if so, why isn't Guy the artist?

BPRD Vol. 9 is indeed the 1946 series, the TPB is set for release on November 5th.

One big reason Guy Davis didn't draw this series is because his art doesn't fit the mood of this one as well as it does the usual B.P.R.D. yarns. There's a very somber and horrific feel that artist Paul Azaceta really nails. Don't be discouraged, it's an awesome story with great art.

You should also try catching up on the monthly issues of The Warning with the usual creative team. It's getting pretty intense for our favorite B.P.R.D. heroes.

Story-wise the 'BPRD: 1946, 1947, etc.'-angle, will work it's way from BPRD beginnings, another reason why another team with Josh Dysart and artist Paul Azaceta was chosen, so that John Arcudi and Guy Davis can keep at fulfilling duties with BPRD in the now.

Excellent, so Guy is not off BPRD??? Whewww! he's the best in my book.

So you say 1946 TPB is worth buying??

So it's kind of a side story, vs. a linear part (if that makes sense)?

No waaay is Guy off!
And: Waaay worth buying is BPRD1946:cool:.

And it's rather moody, as jlagory calls it. Picture professor Broom, young and at the start of his career... Something's bound to go bump in the night, not?

Spectacular. As cool as chasing chickens.
Don't take my word for it 'though, just check the man's blog for yerself at lazypalooza.blogspot.com.

Its where this can be found: http://bp2.blogger.com/_22r-0UyNVYg/RhARC5l1jwI/AAAAAAAAABs/3ooqvaI9Tvc/s1600-h/hellboy.jpg An original BPRD: 1946 panel...

EDIT: I hope promoting the talented Mr. Paul Azaceta in this way is not uncalled for?

Paul's art is great. The trade may be actually better to buy in TPB form because in the first issue Broom and Dr. Eaton go in to an abandoned asylum but it is supposed to be day not night. So they accidentally messed up with the colours ( or colors if your American.)

I wasn't even paying attention until Scott Allie mentioned it in issue 2 and said that they would fix it in the TPB.
