I have just re read my Hellboy Collection for the second time since i got it ( not to long ago ).
In The Conqueror Worm - in your opinion ( or perhaps you know fact? ) What the hell is Lobster Johnson??

Demon? Ghost? Undead? ... I don't know ...

He seems flesh and blood alright, but he is unaffected by the actions of the physical world around him until he is struck by lightning.

Hmm.. Well what do you think?

The Conqueror Worm is probably the best comic book I ever read by the way.

He is in fact a ghost of a 1930s era hero. He mostly fought Nazis and mafia crime bosses. He was recruited by the US Army to fight the Nazis, and on one of these missions he was killed trying to stop the Space Program at Hunte Castle. Don't worry, Lobster Johnson does come back. He even has his own mini series, The Iron Prometheus.

He is a ghost, empowered by contact with vril energy and the magic of Memnan Saa. He's also the toughest ghost in the Hellboy universe, able to take corporeal form that is roughly the same as his living body. He can shoot, he can talk sass, and he can even change shape.

And, he's foxy.

Yeah, there was a vague explanation of The Lobster's current state at the end of The Iron Prometheus.

He should be the star of a major Hollywood motion picture. Shall we start the casting and director call now?

I nominate for director: Len Wiseman, Robert Rodriguez or Alfonso Cuarón.

As for male star to play the Lobster? Someone with a great range in voice talent and agility. He doesn't have to be pretty, we'll never see his face. Shall I even speak his name? Vin Diesel?

Let the casting game begin...

Thank you Tindall. That certainly answers that one. Where did you learn all this fact Tindall?

I naturally knew he was badass and the coolest character ever and all that. I just felt I had to know a bit more :)

Thanks everybody. And beware of the Claw.

As far as casting the Lobster I nominate GDT's pick, Bruce Campbell.

You can find out much of his history in The Iron Prometheus, which is now in trade paperback. It was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Also, as an all around reference, I highly recommend getting Hellboy: The Companion. It takes all the existing puzzle pieces of the Hellboy mythos and fits them together quite nicely. The timeline section alone is brilliant. Add in the character biographies, and an exploration of the literary influences on the story, and you can't miss. It does however have spoilers for just about every story before The Warning. So if you don't mind having all the storylines from BPRD and Hellboy spoiled, go for it.

Is the explanation of the Lobster's state an extra in the tpb?
