Spectre teleports and shows Renee Kate, who's fighting Killer Croc and two other goons, before she can help her he teleports her to the bat-signel in Gothem.

Before Spectre can finish the deed, he's interrupted by the Spirit of Mercy. They argue back and forth until The Spectre turns into Cris Allen who breaks into tears.

The Order of Cain travels to some island were they find Vandel Savage setting in front of his labtop as the ALE has been released, Vandal seems to be uneffected by it. Sister Wrack then stabs Vandal with the Spear of Destiny. Looks like Vandal Savage is the biblical Cain and is now free.

Back to Gothem. Cris, Sister Mary, and Renee get interupted by Maggie Sawyer, who is a Slave of Darkseid. She infects Renee with the Anti-Life Equation. The Spectre fights of the infected while the spirit of mercy clears Renee of the equation and teleports her to the streets below. Dozens of people are walking around chanting about the equation.

Please keep overt references to christian mythology out of the DC universe. Jack Kirby invented the New Gods as a workaround for this very reason.

umm isnt that hard considering Spectre is the spirit of vengeance as sent forth by God?

was anyone else let down by the anti-life equation?

What do you mean? The ALE is what it's always been

What, the fact that it's an actual equation? I think it's pretty neat.

Grant Morrison basically defined this literal equation in SEVEN SOLDIERS: MISTER MIRACLE. Nice to see it made the transition from that story.

Just realized something, of the seven greater angels from judeo-christian mythology introduced in Kingdom Come, only the Spectre, the Word, the Radiant, and Eclipso have been named so far.

I agree. I thought it was pretty cool. I mean, the ALE is what it has always been, but I think it is cool how it is display and presented in this issue. I am really enjoying this tie-in so far.

I mean......it really makes sense that all these years, Darkseid was looking for a long and complex mathematical equation, versus some mystical energy orb or brainwaves or something...

Exactly! The fact that the ALE is an actual equation is great for bringing a sense of realism to the book. The fact that the universe isn't based solely on some mystical power, but based on physics (even though they are not scientific variables within the equation).

Let's suspend disbelief for a sec, and assume that from Darkseid's position, they actually are.

I mean, I know: Grant was actually just making a spiritual point about how these things grind you down, and that authoritarian control uses them against us to turn us into drones, but on the literal level within the DC universe, yes, loneliness is quantifiable.

Like in a (an?) RPG -- your loneliness points are high, you are in danger of turning into a self-pitying prat! Roll 7 to go down the pub and get over yourself.

Which is not so far from the neurobiological truth.

The Anti-Life equation wasn't "Just" an equation in this book either, remember the mention of the screeching and horror that came out of their mouths? They aren't just saying "Loneliness" or "Mockery" they are saying the universal fundamental explanation of those terms, so much so that merely hearing them instills them.

I'm really intrigued with the way this book is going. One of the things I've enjoyed about Crispus being The Spectre is how he's been so filled with doubts and self-loathing. Corrigan didn't really have that until the end of his Ostrander run, and Hal was too busy worrying about saving his own skin.

I'm also curious to see what further part he's going to have in this Crisis.

Nice little twist with vandal savage. I bet Morrison came up with that idea when he was mapping out 52. He used vandal savage in DC 1 million as welll, he seems to like this villain alot. I like the way greg ruck has been writing this mini series, All the final crisis books so far have been very very good, Legion of 3 worlds is my fav by far, then the main event itself final crisis, and this and rogues revenge are brillaint too.

Wait, did Morrison influence how REVELATIONS goes down? I thought this was all Rucka's doing...

I kinda got the feeling that these developments with Savage seemed slightly contradictory to what Morrison was using Savage as in FINAL CRISIS proper; as a Society conspirator, along with Luthor and Sivana and many others.

I mean, it would make sense if Vandal Savage just returned back to his homebase after the events of FC #2 (not interested in Libra's schtick, but unlike Luthor he doesn't return and get messed up by Libra and his Justifier helmets) but with the neverending editorial bafoonery, I fully expect to see Savage as a ALE controlled boob in FC *and* see him in this new role in REVELATIONS.

I do recall that bit about wanting guys he worked with on 52 involved with the tie-ins. But I figured it was just that, not actual involvement. Good to know.
