Dragon warrior 4 was on the nes, dragon warrior 7 was on the ps1. Course Im sure it was just a typo and you meant 7.
But with that said DW7 was still superior to any even final fantasy games that had been made in the past 15 years.
Dragon warrior isnt about being on a powerful system or having big graphics, DW is about charm and characters with a good storyline and proven gameplay. So it wouldnt matter if 7 was on the ps1 or the nes it would still be a good game.
The fact it doesnt get self absorbed with fancy graphics and complex combo or skill or mini game systems is what makes it so good, its simplicity itself really. Ill take that over a new multi million dollar developed rpg any day of the week.

I'm going to pick this up when I can, as I actually really like the DQ series for all its pretention free lightheartedness. Gotta beat some other games first, though.

WRONG. The story doesn't come close to something like FFX, the gameplay can't touch FFXII.
Gonna check out Chapters of the Chosen later today. Right now, Nintendo DS is the system for RPG's!

He means the Dragon Warrior IV remake for the PS1. It was planned for release in North America, but it got canceled when the developer working on the localization closed its doors.

Dragon Warrior VII was brilliant. Any game that take 100 hours to fly through the story is tops in my book. Not to mention being loaded with side quests. Not as brilliant as Dragon Warrior IV, but that was one of the greatest games ever made.
No, I'm pissed because on the back of the manual for Dragon Warrior VII was an advert for the PS1 remake of Dragon Warrior IV which was already scheduled to be released in America. But partway through the localization the company that made Dragon Warrior IV went bankrupt and closed it's doors. Enix owns the Dragon Warrior series, but it didn't own the source code, and it would be illegal for them to change that code in any way (which translating does). So the only options were to scrap the American release completely or to remake Dragon Warrior IV again from the ground up.
They scraped it, screwing us out of Dragn Warrior IV on the PS1. Luckily they've finally decide to remake it once again, completely different from the PS1 version, and we didn't get screwed again.
