Issue #3 was delayed a week due to problem with the printers, I believe. Issue #4 was always going to be a month in between, but with Carlos Pacheo coming on board and Morrison having to address the three deaths of Orion, it's probably why there is a delay.

As long as it doesn't get as bad as Ultimates 2 or Astonishing X-men i'm cool.

though the book rocked, ultimates 2 delay was harsh.
And that is NOT allowed to happen with a big event like Final Crisis, the ripples through the DCU of a big delay would be huge.

Would the ripples really be felt thought? It doesn't really seem like FC cross over into to many other books. You almost can't tell FC is happening outside the core book and a few tie ins.
I guess that's the upside of FC being self contained, unlike SI (though that book thankfully seems to be on schedule). If the book is delayed, the effects will actually be kinda minimal.

EVERY DCU monthly is currently in a holding pattern till FC finishes. This means that if final crisis ends two months late then we're going to end up getting stuck with a whole bunch of filler issues, as everything occuring till the completion of final crisis is said to occur in the preceding weeks

I can't for the life of me wrap my brain around how it was a good idea to schedule a "skip-month" in the middle of an "event" limited series just when the action was starting to pick up!

I think the original idea was that Submit, Resist, Superman: Beyond, etc. were all going to come out during the skip month -- so there'd still be action, just from a different perspective.

I agree with you completely. It SHOULD have been a graphic novel.
That would have solved...yep...EVERY problem I've had with Final Crisis so far. The DCU being put "on hold" with everything else taking place "preceeding"... the ambiguity...the decompression...All of it.

So the skip month is suppose to be between issues 3 & 4?
I remember Morrison claiming that the skip month would be organic and tied into the story. At the time, I assumed the skip would be the result of Darkseid having done something to change the fundamental nature of the universe. But, all I saw at the end of FC 3 was some kind of biological agent (Morticcus virus?) being released via WW. How does that organically lead to a break in the main series? I really hope the tie-in's deal with the spread of the virus, or this whole skip month is pointless other than to give the creative team more time after a year of lead-in.
Considering my enjoyment of Morrison's other current and past DC titles, I'm pretty shocked with FC's total lack of cohesion and interesting storytelling. Many promises were made going into this, and I don't think Morrison has delivered upon any of them.
And, when the heck did Superman go around telling everyone "the end is nigh" as referenced in Metzler tie-in? This whole "event" from CD to now has been a total mess.

Indeed. Wally and Barry ran forward through time by one month. The end result is that the two of them arrive one month after the Anti-Life E-mail had been opened and the unleashing of the virus.

You're half right. There isn't any filler. All books have been proceeding with the stories that the creative teams had been planning since a year or perhaps two years ago. Once "Final Crisis" is done, then the books will reflect what has come out of it. The only book that will be affected will be Batman and that is due to Grant Morrison's writing "Final Crisis" and tying it in with "R.I.P." and serving as a bridge for the post "R.I.P." stories. All the other DCU stories will carry over into the first part of 2007. Superman, for instance, has a nine part story that carries on through December. If FC comes out in January, then there will only be one month of just plain stories or the books will just jump right into the post FC era.

7 isn't solicited for December. So they'll probably be caught by January. Life goes on.

They are? In what sense?
It seems to me that the creators can bang out as many one-shots as they like in the mean time, just like they used to in the old days.
Of course, that would mean coming up with more than one idea a year...
