I was thrilled when this book was solicited.

No that issue #5 (http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=10155) has come out, and after reading it twice last night, I am uncertain about what to do. I mean, I love war heroes fighting dinosaurs, but I have no idea what's going on in this book, and everytime a new issue comes out, I feel like I'm being teased by the book.

Characters I don't know or care for, fighting without real explanation, and plot so shrouded, I feel like I'm watching "Lost".

I'm dropping this book unless someone convinces me otherwise, because right now, I don't see a reason to keep going. It's sad, because I want to like this book.

Not to hijack the thread but what does this phrase mean?

I was thrilled when this book was solicited

Isee people say solicited all the time and not sure what is meant by that.

The War That time forgot is the name of an old feature in a DC war book where US Soldiers fought dinosaur on an uncharted island. There is a Showcase Presents volume reprinting it.

I think that the Lost feel is deliberate. But I wouldn't say it's working well.

solicited: announced as coming. It comes from the practice of Diamond Distributor to offer the book for purchase by retailer based on the publisher saying it will be published

I think there's supposed to be a certain sense of mystery behind what's going on. Someone's controlling everything behind the scenes. The good thing is that we know this is only a 12 issue maxiseries, so things should be cleared up by the end.

I too was excited about this series, and have become increasingly disappointed as each issue comes out. I wanted more of a "Guns of the Dragon" vibe, and I'm not getting that. And the art leaves something to be desired, as well. I also will contemplate dropping the series before it's over, and I think the next issue will be the one that forces a decision, one way or another.

History lesson aside, I love the original stuff. Always have. It was quirky and fun and simple.

But this new series is fragmented and disjointed. The characters haven't really gelled into solid personalities because they keep throwing more of them at the reader.

If you're not getting your $2.99 worth of enjoyment, drop the title. That's what I'm doing with Avengers/Invaders for the same reasons. It became a chore to read.

I am enjoying this and I am in for the duration. It's a bit like a cross between that 90's movie No Fear and the Lost World. It's fun and its not connected to a big event. Hoo ha!

Yep. I did drop it.

I gave it a fair shake, and it didn't do it for me.

(I quite like Avengers/Invaders though. Different strokes, I guess.)
