I scotch tape an outsied border which helps and purchase a heavier grade of board( I buy them by the sheet rather than pad -hot press works pretty well).

Well the pic(for the tailgate) was decided, it's secret though. Once finished it'll be clear coated with Dupont Chroma clear(3 coats). I'll update.
Anyway the new project which was in process some ways back(huh)!

Mermaid, on the tailgate(pickup truck or any automotive work and or T-shirts) it's applied by Airbrush and I use waterbased paint by Createx since 1993.

alright - first off I hope you know by now that I totally dig your style. if you want me to be nit-picky and throw some advice your way, I would say that it's obvious that you enjoy doing portraits. maybe try and mix it up a bit though with different angles/perspectives, rather than the straight-on look. just an idea to play around with?

Nit-picky you're not and totaly online with a constructive crit I was and always was looking for!
I like and always did like doing portraits of any medium life like and or cartoon style... It's kinda weird, you learn alot about the person you're rendering!

Anyway... angles/perspective I will add to(and need to) my drawing studies!

I used a china marker on this pic... Sometimes I'll use a prisma colored pencil or just sketch with the airbrush. On shirts I'll use a 4b-6b pencil.

Digging up some older work to look at.
Sometimes older work can be a burden to look at because one gets stuck in that subject/area and not moving on to a newer spectrum of ideas. Then again, looking at our older work helps us to move on as an Artist by correcting/improving our work...
